The Korea professional baseball team Lotte Giants has surged to its third consecutive victory.
Lotte won 4-2 against the SSG Landers in the '2025 Shinhan Bank SOL Bank KBO League' at Incheon SSG Landers Field on the 14th.
Lotte's lineup batted 9 hits and scored 1 home run. Kim Min-sung contributed significantly with 2 hits, including his second home run of the season, in 4 at-bats, resulting in 2 RBIs and 1 run scored, leading the team to victory. Reyes and Jeon Jun-woo also recorded multi-hits.
Starting pitcher Alec Gamboa delivered a stellar performance, pitching 6 innings, allowing 7 hits, 1 walk, and striking out 6 while giving up 1 run, earning his third win of the season. He overwhelmed the SSG batters with fastballs reaching speeds of up to 156 km/h. The bullpen, consisting of Choi Jun-yong (1 inning, no runs), Jeong Cheol-won (1 inning, no runs), and Kim Won-jung (1 inning, 1 run), secured the team victory. Kim Won-jung recorded his 17th save of the season.
Lotte took the lead in the top of the second inning when Kim Min-sung hit a solo home run with one out. In the bottom of the fourth, SSG's leadoff batter Eredia and Koh Myung-jun recorded consecutive hits, and Park Sung-han moved the runners over with a groundout, setting up a 1st and 3rd base opportunity with one out. Oh Tae-gon equalized the game with a sacrifice fly.
Allowing the game to tie, Lotte in the top of the sixth with two outs saw Go Seung-min earn a walk, and Reyes hit a single, creating a 1st and 3rd base opportunity with two outs. Jeon Jun-woo delivered a go-ahead single, putting the team back in the lead. In the eighth with two outs and a runner on first, Reyes hit a single to create a 1st and 3rd base opportunity, followed by Jeon Jun-woo's and Kim Min-sung's consecutive RBIs, solidifying the team's victory.
In the bottom of the ninth, SSG had one last chance for a comeback as leadoff batter Park Sung-han walked, and Oh Tae-gon hit a double, putting runners on second and third with no outs. After Jo Hyung-woo struck out, Jeong Jun-jae hit a ground ball to first. However, during a rundown, the runner on third successfully scored while the runner on second was tagged out, ending the game.
Lotte's manager Kim Tae-hyoung praised the pitchers, stating, "Starting pitcher Gamboa showed outstanding pitching, and the subsequent relievers did a great job, allowing us to maintain the lead."
"Thanks to the focus on scoring continuously with veterans like Jeon Jun-woo and Kim Min-sung leading the way, we were able to achieve good results," said manager Kim Tae-hyoung, who expressed gratitude to the traveling fans who came all the way to Incheon.
Lotte has announced Lee Min-seok as the starting pitcher for the upcoming game on the 15th. SSG will start Drew Anderson.
