Professional baseball player Drew Anderson (31) of the SSG Landers showcased overwhelming pitching prowess.

Anderson took the mound as a starter on the 15th at Incheon SSG Landers Field against the Lotte Giants in the '2025 Shinhan Bank SOL Bank KBO League' and recorded a win with 7 innings pitched, allowing 5 hits, 1 walk, and striking out 11 batters without giving up a run.

After striking out lead-off batters Kim Dong-hyeok and Go Seung-min in the first inning, Anderson allowed a hit to Víctor Reyes but struck out Jeon Jun-woo to end the inning. In the second inning, he allowed a hit to lead-off batter Kim Min-sung but induced a 6-4-3 double play from Jeon Min-jae. Son Ho-young was retired on a ground ball to third base.

In the third inning, Anderson faced a crisis after giving up a double to lead-off batter Go Seung-min. After catching a fly ball from Reyes in center field and striking out Jeon Jun-woo, Anderson walked Kim Min-sung but escaped the jam by striking out Jeon Min-jae. In the fifth inning, he struck out lead-off batter Son Ho-young and allowed a hit to Jung Hoon, but after Jeung Bo-keun popped up to shortstop, he struck out Kim Dong-hyeok to keep the score even.

In the sixth inning, after giving up a hit to Reyes with one out, Anderson retired Jeon Jun-woo on a fly ball to right field and struck out Kim Min-sung. In the seventh, he created a three-up, three-down inning with two strikeouts. In the eighth inning, with SSG leading 1-0, he handed the mound over to Lee Ro-un and ended his appearance. Thanks to Anderson's strong performance, SSG won 1-0 and broke a three-game losing streak. Anderson also recorded his fifth win of the season.

Anderson threw 96 pitches, including 50 fastballs, 24 change-ups, 18 curves, and 4 sliders. His fastball reached a top speed of 157 km/h. He maintained a strike rate of 72.9%, actively challenging Lotte batters. With jet-fast pitches, he engaged in aggressive matchups while maintaining efficient pitching.

In a post-game interview, Anderson said, "I felt really good today. Personally, I really like 1-0 games; both from a pitcher's perspective and as a spectator, I find 1-0 games the most enjoyable. So, I'm very satisfied with today's game. I wasn't nervous at all while pitching. Even if I had given up a run, it would have just been one run."

Regarding Guillermo Heredia's deciding solo home run in the sixth inning, Anderson laughed and said, "When a well-hit ball comes out in MLB The Show, a perfect effect appears; it was almost that kind of hit." He calmly remarked about Son Ho-young's final hit that made both SSG and Lotte fans tense in the ninth inning, saying, "I just thought it was a regular fly ball. You can tell when the bat connects. It wasn’t a strongly hit ball."

With this appearance, Anderson recorded a 2.09 earned run average, surpassing Cody Ponce (Hanwha, 2.16) to rise to first place in the league for earned run average. Anderson stated, "I don’t worry too much about it. My role is just to get on the mound and throw strikes. What matters is that the team wins. Since the team won, that’s what’s important."
