Star players representing the K League will face off against Newcastle United FC.
The Korea Professional Football League announced on the 13th, "On July 30 at 8 p.m. at the Suwon World Cup Stadium, 'Team K League,' composed of top K League players, will hold a friendly match against the English Premier League club Newcastle as part of the '2025 Coupang Play Series.'"
Team K League has been competing against prestigious overseas clubs such as Tottenham Hotspur and Atlético Madrid through the Coupang Play Series since 2022.
This year, Newcastle, which meets Team K League, is visiting Korea for the first time in the club's history. Led by manager Eddie Howe, Newcastle secured a fifth-place finish in the 2024-2025 English Premier League, earning a spot in the UEFA Champions League.
The director and coaching staff leading Team K League will be announced later. The schedule and method for fan voting to form the player roster will also be revealed later.
Ticket reservations for the '2025 Coupang Play Series' will begin with early reservations on June 25 and general reservations on June 27. All tickets will be available exclusively through Coupang Play.
