The baseball team from Seoul Iseo Middle School reached the top of the National Middle School Baseball Championship (Gyeongju League) held in Gyeongju.

The tournament, which started on the 1st, featured 134 teams from middle schools nationwide, with 67 baseball teams in the Gyeongju League and 67 teams in the Boeun League competing for the top spot.

The 67 teams in the Gyeongju League were divided into 22 groups for round-robin matches, after which the top team from each group advanced to the final tournament.

The Iseo Middle School baseball team, led by left-handed pitcher Hong Yesung, who received the Best Player and Best Pitcher awards, secured their spot in the finals as group winners through solid defense and cohesive offense.

Iseo Middle School defeated Seoul Yeongnam Middle School 8-6 in the finals and lifted the Gyeongju League championship trophy.

Coach Kang Chang-su noted, 'I am grateful for our players who never gave up until the end,' and added, 'Regardless of the results, I believe the future growth of our players is important. Our important goal is to develop them into athletes whose character and physical abilities can grow with the right attitude.'
