Tottenham, which is facing the possibility of parting ways with Son Heung-min (33), is showing interest in acquiring Manchester United's (Man U) "headache" Jadon Sancho (25).

Sancho was loaned to Chelsea for the 2024-2025 season and recorded 5 goals and 10 assists over a total of 42 matches. In particular, he significantly contributed to Chelsea's victory in the UEFA Conference League and securing a spot in the Champions League, thereby increasing the possibility of a permanent transfer.

However, Chelsea, led by manager Enzo Maresca, announced its FIFA Club World Cup roster and omitted Sancho's name. They paid a penalty of £5 million (approximately 9.2 billion won) for failing to fulfill the conditions for a permanent transfer and returned Sancho to Man U.

However, Man U manager Ruben Amorim has decided to completely exclude Sancho from the first team. Sancho is effectively facing a situation where he can no longer play for Man U after defying former manager Erik Ten Hag.

According to the UK 'Mirror' on the 12th (Korean time), Tottenham, Aston Villa, and Newcastle United are monitoring the situation regarding Sancho, who has become a headache at Man U.

Man U intends to sell Sancho permanently to secure funds in the summer transfer market. Man U has already secured Matheus Cunha for £62.5 million (approximately 115.1 billion won) and is striving to acquire Bryan Mbeumo (26, Brentford).

In particular, Tottenham is likely to actively pursue the acquisition of Sancho as rumors swirl around Son Heung-min's transfer. This summer presents the last opportunity to liquidate Son, whose contract expires next summer.

Tottenham is looking for a left winger who can replace Son Heung-min. Recently, the name of Antoine Semenyo (25, Bournemouth), who is from Ghana, has come up. Sancho is also a forward who performs best as a left winger.

Son Heung-min is not denying the possibility of a transfer. After the match against Kuwait in the final Asian qualifiers for the 2026 FIFA North and Central American World Cup on the 10th, Son Heung-min stated in response to a question about his future, "There is still one year left on my contract," adding, "I think it's right to wait and see."

Sancho's transfer to Tottenham is also not a bad option. Tottenham has a chance to play in the Champions League next season through the UEFA Europa League victory. At the same time, he can replace Son Heung-min's position.

However, Sancho's high salary could be a stumbling block. He is reported to receive a salary of £300,000 at Man U. Sancho has also rejected Chelsea's request to reduce his salary as a condition for a permanent transfer.

If Tottenham were to acquire Sancho permanently, they would have to take on this burden as well. Currently, the highest-paid player at Tottenham is Son Heung-min, who is receiving around £200,000.

If Man U does not insist on a permanent transfer, Tottenham could also take Sancho on loan. Given the style of Chairman Daniel Levy, the likelihood of a loan is even higher. Aston Villa is also reportedly interested in loaning Sancho, similar to Marcus Rashford.
