Seo Jin-yong has returned from a hamstring injury but has been hit hard in the Futures League.

On the 11th, Seo Jin-yong entered the game against the KT Wiz in the 2025 Futures League as a relief pitcher at the SSG Futures Field in Ganghwa and recorded 5 hits, 1 walk, and 4 earned runs in 1 inning.

Trailing 0-2, Seo Jin-yong took the mound in the 5th inning and recorded an out against 9th batter Park Min-seok with a fly ball to center field. However, he was hit for consecutive hits against the opposing lineup afterward.

He walked Yoo Jun-kyu on the 5th pitch and allowed a full count single to Moon Sang-cheol. After allowing a single to An Chi-hyung, he faced a crisis with bases loaded and one out. He got Kang Min-seong to hit a ground ball to third base for the second out but allowed the runner on third to score.

With two outs and runners on second and third, he allowed a timely hit to Lee Seung-hyun, adding 2 more runs. He then permitted a double that went over the left fielder's head to Kim Min-seok, creating a crisis with two outs and runners on second and third. He allowed a 1-RBI timely hit to Kim Gun-hyung, increasing the score to 0-6. The inning ended when the runner on first base was tagged out while trying to advance to second base during a wild pitch to Lee Yong-hyun.

In the 2023 season, Seo Jin-yong recorded 5 wins, 4 losses, 42 saves, and an earned run average (ERA) of 2.59 over 69 games (73 innings), winning his first save title. However, he struggled in the 2024 season, recording 1 loss, 6 holds, and an ERA of 5.55 over 51 games (47 innings) last year.

After the 2023 season, he underwent surgery to remove bone fragments from his elbow, but he did not have a successful season after rehabilitation. His first season after surgery was not in perfect physical condition, and he could not regain his previous pitching ability. Seo Jin-yong acquired free agent (FA) eligibility after completing the 2024 season but chose to not exercise his rights and opted for a second chance at free agency.

Seo Jin-yong was included in the opening roster this season and appeared in 2 games (1⅓ innings) until the end of March, recording 1 hit, 3 walks, and 1 run allowed, with an ERA of 6.75, before being sidelined with a hamstring injury.

In early April, during training, Seo Jin-yong felt discomfort in his left hamstring and underwent an examination, receiving a diagnosis of partial hamstring damage (between Grade 1-2). After completing about 2 months of rehabilitation, he pitched on the 7th against the LG Twins in the Futures League, allowing 2 hits, 2 walks, and 3 runs (1 earned run) over ⅔ inning. After three days of rest, he made his second appearance against KT on the 11th but struggled with 4 runs allowed in 1 inning. His ERA in the Futures League after 2 games now stands at 27.00.
