Reports indicate that the possibility of Son Heung-min's transfer is gaining traction as Saudi Arabian clubs continue their active pursuit.
Tottenham Hotspur News reported on the 11th (Korean time) that "Tottenham is likely to accept the offer for Son Heung-min from the Saudi Arabian Professional League (SPL)," and that "there is a significant possibility that Son will leave the team in the upcoming transfer market."
According to reports, within the Tottenham club, the transfer of Son Heung-min is increasingly seen as a rational option.
Tottenham Hotspur News analyzed that "Son Heung-min has consistently performed well under various coaches over the past 10 years. However, his performance has somewhat declined since Harry Kane left for Bayern Munich," adding that "this summer's transfer could be a wise decision for both the club and the player."
Multiple outlets, including Football365, reported that Saudi Arabia's Al Nassr is actively pursuing Son Heung-min. Given that the transfer budget for the Saudi Arabian Professional League is among the highest in the world, it is likely that Son's market value will be set at a record level.
Tottenham Hotspur News assessed that "the enormous transfer fee that Saudi Arabia is expected to propose will likely be hard for Tottenham to refuse."
In this context, former Brentford manager Martin Allen also expressed his views through the media. He stated, "Son Heung-min has shown fantastic performances at Tottenham, but I believe he has passed his prime," and he is convinced that "if Saudi Arabian clubs make an offer, Tottenham will cash in on Son." He added, "Ultimately, it's only a matter of time."
Son Heung-min is also exhibiting a cautious attitude by not completely denying the transfer rumors. After the Asian final qualifiers against Kuwait for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, held at Seoul World Cup Stadium, he told reporters, "Since I still have a contract, I think it’s better to wait rather than say anything right now," adding, "I am also quite curious. It might be best to see what happens."
Compared to before, there is a noticeable change in Son Heung-min's tone. Two years ago, when the first Saudi Arabian transfer rumors arose, he firmly stated, "What matters is playing in a league I love, rather than money."
BBC predicted that "if Thomas Frank is appointed as the new manager of Tottenham, Son Heung-min's situation will be the most urgent first task." It added, "Son's contract now has only one year left. The uncertainty about his future is increasingly growing."
Ultimately, whether Son Heung-min transfers will likely be decided in conjunction with Tottenham's rebuilding direction this summer. Whether he remains or transfers, European football's attention is focused on his choice.
