Thomas Tuchel (52), the manager, expressed his desire to remain with the England national team regardless of the outcome of the 2026 FIFA North American World Cup.

Tuchel signed an 18-month contract when he took charge of England in January. This means that Tuchel's contract allows him to lead the team until the 2026 World Cup. However, Tuchel has revealed his intention to continue coaching the national team even after the North American World Cup.

Tuchel, originally from Germany, is a surprising card played by England to win its first major tournament since 1966. Former manager Gareth Southgate led the team to two finals in Euro tournaments, raising expectations, but Tuchel is being evaluated as the person who can lead England to victory.

Tuchel has no experience winning the Premier League. However, he is already a manager familiar with major titles. He has won the league twice with Paris Saint-Germain (PSG), once with Bayern Munich, and the UEFA Champions League in 2021 with Chelsea.

On the 12th (Korean time), during a 45-minute live interview with 'Talk Sport' in the UK, Tuchel was asked, 'If you win the World Cup, wouldn't you want to go to the Euro tournament?' The potential extension of Tuchel's contract will depend on the results of the 2026 World Cup.

In response, Tuchel said, "I will always feel the temptation to stay because I love this team and this opportunity." He added, "It is an honor to be the England manager. Since Euro 2028 will be held in England, I always feel the temptation to stay, even right after disappointing results like yesterday."

The England team led by Tuchel suffered a 1-3 comeback loss to Senegal in a friendly match on the 11th. This was the first defeat Tuchel faced in four games since taking office. Moreover, it comes after a narrow 1-0 victory against a weaker Andorra in the European qualifiers, leading to skepticism towards Tuchel.

In response to the question, 'Would you be willing to stay even if England fails to win the World Cup?' Tuchel admitted, "If you ask me at this moment, the answer is 'yes.' I feel that this position fits me perfectly right now."

He continued, "I wanted a new challenge and a new environment. And I have found that here," noting, "I feel trusted and respected by the people of the association. I really like the squad, and I want to push them further. Everything feels right. So my answer is clearly 'yes.'"

Tuchel mentioned, "While being close to the Premier League, I am receiving input on ways to strengthen the team from various fields such as rugby and the military, and it is interesting to be able to reflect this in a different rhythm than the usual season."

He emphasized, "The fact that I can build a squad without a transfer market and view high-level football in a different way makes the international stage a suitable challenge for me. It's certainly a big challenge that won't be easy, but I love this. So I have no doubts about this position."
