Son Heung-min (33, Tottenham) is ready to play under a new manager, but there is also a possibility that he might leave Tottenham Hotspur this summer.
'TBR Football' reported on the 11th (Korean time) that "Son Heung-min is showing an open attitude to playing with the next coach, but his future at Tottenham has not been decided yet."
According to the report, the appointment of Thomas Frank as Tottenham's manager is virtually confirmed. Manager Frank has reached a personal agreement with the club and is expected to meet with Son Heung-min right after his appointment to discuss the latter's future.
Tottenham is also preparing for the possibility of transferring Son Heung-min. According to TBR Football's chief reporter Graham Bailey, "Son Heung-min is prepared to play under Manager Frank, but if both sides determine that a transfer is better, he is willing to leave."
The media reported that "Son Heung-min's camp has already contacted the Saudi Arabian Professional League. Clubs from Germany, Italy, and Spain are also showing interest."
Tottenham activated a one-year extension option included in Son Heung-min's contract last January, extending the contract period until the summer of 2026. However, specific future plans are expected to be decided through discussions with Manager Frank this summer.
TBR Football explained that "Son Heung-min has confidence in regaining his form at Tottenham after a recent disappointing season. However, Tottenham is preparing for an active squad overhaul during the summer transfer window, and newly acquired players could impact Captain Son Heung-min's position."
Bailey said, "There is a possibility that Son Heung-min has already played his last game for Tottenham. If that was in the Europa League final, it would be quite a symbolic scene," adding, "Son Heung-min believes he can still show his best form, but Tottenham will make active acquisitions during the summer, and there is a substantial possibility of Son Heung-min's transfer."
According to TBR Football, Tottenham is already looking for potential replacements for Son Heung-min. They are monitoring Antoine Semenyo from Bournemouth, but high transfer fee demands exceeding £60 million (about 1.15 billion won) have put the acquisition on hold.
The media reported that "They are also pursuing a complete acquisition of promising player Mathys Tel, who recently left a positive impression in internal evaluations. Eberechi Eze is also a target that Tottenham is interested in, and substantial recruitment efforts are expected after Manager Frank's appointment."
Meanwhile, after the match between South Korea and Kuwait held at Seoul World Cup Stadium on the 10th, Son Heung-min remarked, "No matter where I play or what role I take on, I will always prepare and work hard as a player. I will continue to give my best no matter what position I am in."
