K League 1's bottom team Daegu FC has strengthened its defense by signing Hong Jeong-woon (31).
Hong Jeong-woon is a veteran defender who debuted professionally with Daegu in 2016 and served as the team's main center-back until 2023. He has been a central figure in key moments for Daegu, including the team's promotion to K League 1, FA Cup victory, and advancement to the round of 16 in the AFC Champions League, and he holds special meaning for fans. After transferring to Daejeon Hana Citizen in 2024, he gained international experience while on loan to Thailand's Muangthong United in the first half of 2025.
Based on his physique of 187 cm and 76 kg, Hong Jeong-woon possesses precise positioning, stable aerial ability, and cutting skills, and is expected to add leadership and experience to Daegu's defensive line. The Daegu club believes his return will greatly aid in strengthening defensive organization and ensuring stable game management, as well as contributing significantly to a rebound in the second half of the season.
Hong Jeong-woon has announced a new start with a greater sense of responsibility and affection as he returns to his former team after a year and a half. Hong Jeong-woon completed his medical tests at Udeum Hospital, the official designated hospital of Daegu FC, and has registered as a player. He is currently working on his condition by joining the team's training.
