The professional baseball team LG Twins defended their first-place position by defeating the SSG Landers.

LG secured a comeback victory with a score of 6-4 in the game against SSG held at Seoul's Jamsil Stadium on the 11th. Veteran Kim Hyun-soo made crucial contributions both offensively and defensively.

Before the game, manager Youm Kyoung-youb noted the recent silent batting lineup, saying, "Min-jae is performing well in the first spot. It would be best if Seong-joo comes alive and bats second. It would be good if Hyun-soo bats fifth and Dong-won bats sixth. We need Austin, Bo-gyeong, and Dong-won to step up to resolve this."

Kim Hyun-soo walked after one out in the first inning. Key hitters Austin and Moon Bo-gyeong both went down with groundouts.

LG tied the game with Lee Young-bin's RBI triple in the bottom of the second inning with two outs and a runner on first base, then took the lead 2-1 with Shin Min-jae's single to right field. In the continued chance with two outs and runners on first and third, Kim Hyun-soo went down swinging for a strikeout. Kim Hyun-soo suffered another looking strikeout after one out in the fifth inning.

However, the third time was not a charm. In the seventh inning, tied at 3-3, LG's leadoff hitter Park Hae-min reached base with a single to right field and successfully stole second base. With one out and a runner on third, Kim Hyun-soo stepped up to the plate. Kim Hyun-soo hit a timely single to center against SSG's ace, turning the game around to 4-3. A two-run homer by Austin followed, extending the lead to 6-4 and seizing the momentum.

LG allowed one run in the eighth inning when Kim Young-woo gave up a double to Oh Tae-gon with two outs and a runner on first, narrowing the score to 6-4.

Kim Hyun-soo received applause for a super catch that prevented a run in the ninth inning. With one out and a runner on first, he made a sliding catch on a line drive hit by Choi Jeong. Pitcher Jang Hyun-sik expressed his gratitude. If that ball had gotten away, it could have resulted in a run with the game momentum shifting towards a tie. Afterwards, Jang Hyun-sik secured the victory by getting Jo Hyeong-woo to pop out to the second baseman with two outs and runners on first and second.

If LG had lost that day, they would have nearly surrendered their first-place spot to Hanwha. LG maintained a 0.5-game lead over second-place Hanwha to stay at the top.

Manager Youm Kyoung-youb said after the game, "The tying hit by Gu Bon-hyeok in the sixth inning allowed us to bring the momentum toward us in the latter part of the game, and we urgently needed additional runs, so we were able to win with Kim Hyun-soo's game-winning hit and Austin's two-run homer." He added, "I want to commend Kim Hyun-soo's hustle play in the ninth inning."
