Veteran pitcher Song Eun-beom of the Samsung Lions took the mound as a starter for the first time in 1,861 days, showcasing a flawless performance without allowing any runs.

On the 10th, Song Eun-beom started on the mound as a pitcher in an away game against the Kia Tigers at Hampyeong-Kia Challenger's Field. It was his first start in 1,861 days since May 6, 2020, during his time with the LG Twins against the Doosan Bears at Jamsil.

In the first inning, Song Eun-beom induced a pop-up from Park Jae-hyun and a ground ball to second base from Jeong Hae-won. He did walk Park Heon but struck out Lee Woo-sung looking.

In the second inning, Song Eun-beom induced a ground ball from leadoff batter Park Sang-jun and got Park Min out on a ground ball to third base, easily securing two outs. After two outs, he allowed an infield hit to Kim Jae-hyun. Shortly after, he contained Han Seung-taek with a foul pop fly to left field, ending the inning.

In the third inning, Song Eun-beom secured his first three-up, three-down inning, wrapping up Ji-sung Jang, Park Jae-hyun, and Jeong Hae-won. In the fourth inning, he turned Park Heon, Lee Woo-sung, and Park Sang-jun into ground balls. After four innings, he recorded one hit allowed, one walk, and two strikeouts with no runs, passing the mound to Hong Won-pyo in the fifth inning with a score of 1-0.

Meanwhile, born in 1984, Song Eun-beom joined the SK Wyverns (formerly known as SSG Landers) through the first draft in 2003 after graduating from Dongsan High School, playing for Kia, Hanwha Eagles, and LG, before recently joining Samsung following a tryout.

There were ups and downs before wearing the Lions uniform. After being released by LG in November 2023, he even applied for the baseball reality show 'Ultimate Baseball.'

Samsung revealed the reason for acquiring Song Eun-beom, stating that he has played as a versatile pitcher both as a starter and in the bullpen, and with his wealth of experience, he is expected not only to inject new energy into a bullpen that loses strength in the latter half but also to serve as a mentor for younger pitchers.

Song Eun-beom has appeared in a total of 694 games in the first team, recording 88 wins, 95 losses, 27 saves, 59 holds, and an earned run average of 4.55. His performance this season shows no wins or losses in 5 games, with an earned run average of 4.50.
