19-year-old Spain national team defender Dean Huiseon (20) emphasized the significance of his transfer to Real Madrid.
On the 11th (Korean time), Huiseon spoke at a press conference for his Real Madrid signing, stating, "Today is the best day of my life," and said, "Being here is like a dream for me. I will give everything for the team."
Huiseon officially signed with Real Madrid on the 10th, the day before. He was born in Amsterdam, Netherlands, but immigrated to Spain at the age of 5. He was first selected for the Spain senior national team in March and has played in an international match.
Huiseon, a product of the Juventus youth academy, had stints with AS Roma (on loan) and AFC Bournemouth. Real activated a buyout option worth £50 million to acquire the tall center back (197 cm) Huiseon and signed him to a four-year contract.
According to Real Madrid's official website, Huiseon explained that the reason he chose number 24 was, "It was available. I am very happy to have this number," and emphasized, "I had offers from other teams. However, after receiving contact from Real, I didn't pay attention to other teams."
Regarding "what role I can play," Huiseon mentioned that he spoke with manager Xabi Alonso, saying, "I believe my style fits well with the football that manager Alonso pursues. I want to contribute as much as possible."
Reflecting on his experience in the English Premier League (EPL) with Bournemouth over the past six months and becoming a member of the Spain national team, Huiseon stated, "All of this feels like a dream. I am ready. The reason I came here is to win."
He also expressed confidence, saying, "I think I have shown that I am ready. I came here to win. I want to win everything as a player. I am a very ambitious person," and added, "I am quite calm by nature. I live doing what I love and I put my best efforts into everything while working humbly."
Huiseon, who named Sergio Ramos (39, Sevilla) as his role model, recalled, "On the day of the official announcement, Ramos sent me a message. He is my idol and the most perfect center back in history. I respect every aspect of him," and said, "The first match I remember of Real was the La Decima final. Ramos scored the equalizer in injury time. I was 9 years old then."
Regarding contact from manager José Mourinho during his loan at Roma, he said, "I was having Christmas dinner with my family. When you get a call from Mourinho, you have to listen," adding, "He is a great figure in football history, and I am really grateful to him."
Huiseon mentioned, "I received welcoming messages from some players. I think it is a good team made up of good people. I want to adapt quickly," and added, "You will know when you watch me on the field. I am quite calm and I am living my dream doing what I love," stressing, "Every part can improve. I am working hard every day for that."
