The draw for the quarterfinals of the 2025 Hana Bank Korea Cup has been finalized.
The draw ceremony for the quarterfinals to the finals was held on the 11th at 2 p.m. at the Football Hall in Jongno, Seoul. The draw ceremony was broadcast live on YouTube 'KFATV_LIVE'.
This year, a total of 58 teams participated in the Korea Cup (12 teams from K League 1, 14 teams from K League 2, 14 teams from the K3 League, 10 teams from the K4 League, and 8 teams from the K5 League). The first to third rounds and the round of 16 have been completed, with 6 teams from K League 1 (Gangwon FC, Jeonbuk Hyundai, Daegu FC, FC Seoul, Gwangju FC, and Ulsan HD) and 2 teams from K League 2 (Gimpo FC and Bucheon FC) continuing in the race for the championship.
Gwangju FC, which reached the semifinals last year, achieving the club's best performance, will face Ulsan HD, last year's runner-up, in a rematch after their semifinal encounter last year. Ulsan recorded a 1-0 victory in the first leg away game and a 2-2 draw in the second leg home game, winning with an aggregate score of 3-2 against Gwangju to advance to the finals.
The matchup between K League 2 teams Gimpo FC and Bucheon FC has also been established. Both Gimpo and Bucheon showcased 'giant-killing' by defeating Pohang Steelers and Gimcheon Sangmu (both from K League 1) in the round of 16.
FC Seoul will host Jeonbuk Hyundai, which boasts 5 Korea Cup victories (2000, 2003, 2005, 2020, 2022). The two teams, which are also engaged in a 'legend match' rivalry in K League 1, will meet in the Korea Cup for the first time since the 2022 final (then the FA Cup). At that time, Jeonbuk defeated Seoul to claim the championship.
Daegu FC, the 2018 tournament champion, will take on Gangwon FC at home. The last time the two teams met was in the 2021 tournament semifinals, where Daegu overcame Gangwon 1-0 to secure second place. Gangwon's advancement to the semifinals at that time was the club's best performance.
The quarterfinals will take place in a single match format on July 2, the same as in the transfer round.
The winner of the Gwangju-Ulsan match in the semifinals will face the winner of the Gimpo-Bucheon match, while the victorious team from the Seoul-Jeonbuk match will meet the winner of the Daegu-Gangwon match.
The semifinals will be held on Aug. 20 and Aug. 27 in a home-and-away format, with the finals taking place on Dec. 6.
