Son Heung-min (33, Tottenham) will soon have a new coach.

The British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) reported on the 9th that "Tottenham Hotspur is close to appointing Thomas Frank, the Brentford manager, as the new head coach," adding that "Tottenham plans to pay more than £10 million (about 18.4 billion won) to Brentford to acquire Frank, who still has a contract in place."

European transfer market expert Fabrizio Romano also noted through his social media account that "a personal agreement between Frank and Tottenham has been completed. Negotiations with Brentford have also made progress," and that "Frank is expected to take up the position as Tottenham's new head coach soon."

Frank began his coaching career with the Denmark youth national teams in 2008. He later earned recognition for his leadership when he took the helm at Brøndby in 2013.

He joined Brentford as head coach in 2016 and was promoted to the official managerial position in 2018. He has led Brentford for nearly seven years, famously promoting the team to the Premier League in the 2020-2021 season, which is considered one of his major achievements.

Frank is recognized as a coach who employs various tactics and training systems. He is praised for his ability to manage games with tailored strategies suited to opposing teams. His youth development and player scouting abilities are also highly regarded.

Since competing in the Premier League from the 2021-2022 season, he has caused a stir with audacious tactics against strong teams, even with limited resources. Notably, he showcased the team's potential with a 2-0 victory against Arsenal in August 2021, and in the 2022-2023 season, he proved his coaching ability by achieving the club's best result, finishing 9th in the league.

Daniel Levy, chairman of Tottenham, and the board have reportedly already discussed Frank's plans for the summer transfer window.

Meanwhile, Tottenham dismissed head coach Ange Postecoglou on the 7th, who had brought the club a trophy after seven years.

Postecoglou led Tottenham, which had been struggling without a trophy since winning the League Cup in the 2007-2008 season, to the top of the UEFA Europa League. However, he struggled in the Premier League, as Tottenham finished 17th last season with 38 points (11 wins, 5 draws, 22 losses), marking the worst ranking since the Premier League's inception.
