Park Hye-jeong (22), known as the 'weightlifting fairy' who moved the nation by winning a silver medal at the 2024 Paris Olympics, has signed a management contract with sports management company Wow Management Group.
Wow Management announced on the 10th, "We have signed a management contract with Park Hye-jeong, the future of weightlifting in Korea," adding, "We will spare no efforts to support her in various areas, including training and performance improvement, media management, and sponsor acquisition, so she can grow to the next level."
Park Hye-jeong rose to prominence as a next-generation star leading a new era for Korean women's weightlifting after winning a silver medal in the women's 81kg+ category at the 2024 Paris Olympics. Having dominated both domestic and international stages since high school, Park is recognized as an athlete with solid skills and a strong mentality, and she is noted as the future of weightlifting in Korea.
Experts evaluate Park Hye-jeong as "a candidate for the next-generation Olympic gold medalist, possessing physique, power, and technique all at once."
Park Hye-jeong expressed her excitement, saying, "I’m happy to receive support from a reliable sports management company," and stated, "I won't be satisfied with the silver medal at the Paris Olympics; I will prepare step by step towards a bigger goal."
Meanwhile, Wow Management Group is the largest sports agency in Korea, managing not only top golf stars like Park In-bee, Yoo So-yeon, Kim A-rim, and Lee Jeong-eun but also sports entertainers like Shin Soo-ji and speed skater Lee Na-hyun, as well as hopefuls in various sports, including the curling team Kim. Recently, it has expanded its reach to the professional billiards PBA tour, adding more than 60 athletes, including Jo Jae-ho, Kang Dong-goo, and Kim Ga-young.
With Park Hye-jeong joining forces with Wow Management, there is increasing attention both inside and outside the sports community on what new challenges she will undertake and her future plans.
