Yongsan High School and Onyang Girls' High School have been invited to a global competition.

The National Basketball Association (NBA) announced that Domantas Sabonis (Sacramento Kings; Lithuania), a three-time NBA All-Star, and Lauren Jackson (Australia), a two-time Women’s National Basketball Association (WNBA) champion, will participate in the first NBA Rising Stars Invitational, which will be held from June 25 (Wed) to June 29 (Sun) at the Kallang Tennis Hub in Singapore.

This tournament, featuring male and female high school basketball national teams from 11 Asia-Pacific countries, will take place as a multi-day festival that combines basketball and entertainment. In addition to Sabonis and Jackson, others participating include Oso Igudaro (Phoenix Suns; U.S.), Ryan Dunn (U.S.), and Keisei Tominaga (Japan B.League). Additionally, legendary NBA player Yao Ming (China) is also expected to make a special appearance at the opening ceremony on June 25.

During the tournament, participating players and legends plan to interact with youth players both on and off the court. Furthermore, the NBA Rising Stars Invitational will also feature live entertainment, including performances by the Laker Girls, the cheerleading team of the Los Angeles Lakers (LA Lakers), and Burnie, the mascot of the Miami Heat.

This tournament is organized by the NBA Singapore office as part of a multi-year partnership with Sport Singapore (SportSG) and the Singapore Tourism Board (STB). Starting from the group stage from June 25 to 27, the semifinals and finals in a tournament format will be held on June 28 and 29. In addition to games, participating players will engage in various activities for skill sessions, social responsibility programs, and cultural exchanges, with outstanding players getting opportunities to be invited to future NBA-hosted basketball camps and programs.

The participating teams in the tournament were selected through collaboration with respective national basketball associations and leagues. In the case of the Philippines, the national team was chosen through a preliminary round hosted by an NBA local agency. Korea's Yongsan High School will represent the boys' team, while Onyang Girls' High School will represent the girls' team.
