Professional baseball team SSG Landers achieved two consecutive victories with a strong balance between pitching and hitting.
SSG won 6-2 against the LG Twins in the '2025 Shinhan Bank SOL Bank KBO League' on Oct. 10 at Seoul's Jamsil Stadium, marking their second straight win.
The SSG lineup smashed 13 hits. The transfer player Kim Seong-wook contributed with 3 hits, 2 RBIs, and 1 run in 5 at-bats, while Jo Hyung-woo also had 3 hits in the game. Choi Ji-hoon, Eredia, and Kim Chan-hyung delivered multi-hit performances, attacking the LG pitching staff.
Starting pitcher Kim Gun-woo recorded 2 hits allowed, 5 walks, 2 strikeouts, and 2 earned runs in 3⅓ innings. The bullpen, consisting of Park Si-hu (1⅓ innings, no earned runs), Kim Min (1 inning, no earned runs), Lee Ro-woon (1 inning, no earned runs), Noh Kyung-eun (1 inning, no earned runs), and Jo Byeong-hyeon (1 inning, no earned runs), threw a stellar performance without allowing any runs, securing the team's victory. Park Si-hu became the winning pitcher, while Kim Min and Lee Ro-woon recorded holds.
SSG's Choi Ji-hoon, leading off in the first inning, reached second base with a hit and a stolen base. Kim Seong-wook struck out, and Choi Jeong hit a fly ball to the left fielder, but an absurd throwing error by third baseman Kim Ju-seong on Ko Myung-jun's hit allowed SSG to score first. In the second inning, with one out, Seok Jeong-woo and Kim Chan-hyung hit consecutive singles. With one out and runners on first and third, Choi Ji-hoon delivered an RBI single, followed by Kim Seong-wook's RBI double, extending the lead. A hit-by-pitch for Choi Jeong set up a bases-loaded opportunity where Ko Myung-jun hit a ground ball to the third baseman, resulting in an out at home, but Eredia earned a bases-loaded walk, increasing the score to 4-0.
LG started a counterattack in the bottom of the third inning. Leadoff hitter Park Hae-min drew a walk, and Shin Min-jae hit a double, creating a no-out opportunity with runners on second and third. Kim Hyun-soo was out on a ground ball to the first baseman, but during the throw to second, third base runner Park Hae-min sneaked home to score a point. Austin struck out, but after walks to Moon Bo-gyeong and Park Dong-won, Moon Sung-ju earned a bases-loaded walk, narrowing the score further.
In the top of the fifth inning, SSG created another no-out opportunity with a hit by Eredia and a walk by Park Seong-han, with runners on first and second. Jo Hyung-woo's sacrifice bunt attempt was caught for a pop-up by catcher Park Dong-won, but after Seok Jeong-woo's advancing groundout, Kim Chan-hyung hit an RBI single, extending the lead. In the eighth inning, leadoff hitter Kim Chan-hyung drew a walk and pinch runner Jeong Jun-jae successfully stole second base. Choi Ji-hoon was caught on a fly ball to left field, but Kim Seong-wook hit an RBI single, sealing the victory.
SSG manager Lee Seung-yong said in a post-game interview, "The players showed great focus at the plate, leading to the victory. Starter (Kim) Gun-woo and the subsequent (Park) Si-hu displayed stable pitching, and the bullpen also fulfilled their roles, providing significant support to the team."
He praised the transfer player Kim Seong-wook, stating, "(Kim) Seong-wook showed an active performance in his first start after the transfer." He continued, "(Choi) Ji-hoon is also regaining his hitting form. The lower batting order players such as (Jo) Hyung-woo, (Seok) Jeong-woo, and (Kim) Chan-hyung injected vitality into the team, allowing us to seize the momentum." He further thanked the fans for their support and said, "We will prepare well to continue this good momentum in tomorrow's game."
SSG announced that Mitch White will be the starting pitcher on the 11th. LG's starter will be Eliezer Hernandez.
