Tottenham Hotspur appears to have effectively appointed Thomas Frank, the Brentford manager (50), as their next head coach. It has been reported that discussions have taken place behind the scenes, with only official negotiations remaining.

Sky Sports reported on the 8th (Korean time) that "Frank is ready to hear Tottenham's offer. He is currently in discussions with Brentford," stating that he is a strong candidate to replace Ange Postecoglou.

It was further noted that "he has a buyout clause and must obtain permission from Brentford to negotiate with Tottenham. Brentford has stated that they will not block him if he wishes to move to a bigger club, but they do not intend to let him go for a low price."

Sky Sports reported that Frank's buyout amount is known to be £10 million (approximately 18.4 billion won) and that while there has not yet been an official offer, Tottenham is expected to send a proposal soon. It was also assessed that Frank would likely be interested in negotiating with Tottenham.

European football transfer market expert Fabrizio Romano also relayed through his social media account that "Tottenham is smoothly working on the appointment of Frank. More discussions are scheduled for next week."

Tottenham hopes that Frank can continue the success he achieved at Brentford in North London.

Joining Brentford as chief coach in 2016, he became the official head coach in October 2018 and led the team to promotion to the Premier League in the 2020-2021 season. This is considered one of his greatest achievements.

Competing in the Premier League since the 2021-2022 season, he created a stir against strong teams with bold tactics, even with limited resources. Notably, he showcased the potential of the promoted team with a 2-0 victory against Arsenal in August 2021, and in the 2022-2023 season, he achieved the club's best record by finishing 9th in the league.

Daniel Levy, chairman of Tottenham, and the board have reportedly already discussed summer transfer market plans with Frank.

The reason Tottenham has effectively appointed Frank as a strong candidate is that he is a realistic alternative. The other candidate, Marco Silva, manager of Fulham, is drawing interest from Saudi Arabian clubs. Meanwhile, Andoni Iraola, the Bournemouth manager, is likely to re-sign. In contrast, Frank has a buyout clause in his contract, making it feasible for Tottenham to acquire him.

Kabe Sholhekol of Sky Sports expressed that "Frank's only weakness is his lack of experience with a team as large as Tottenham or in the Champions League. However, he has the advantage of tactical flexibility. He is not stubborn and does not get tied down to a specific method, having achieved excellent results at Brentford."
