Kim Min-jae (29, Bayern Munich) is being linked to Paris Saint-Germain (PSG).
The French media outlet Foot Mercato reported on the 8th (Korea time) that "PSG Director General Luis Campos directly met with Kim Min-jae's agent in Paris this week. PSG has listed Kim Min-jae in their plans to bolster their right center-back position."
The outlet added, "PSG's interest in Kim Min-jae has been steadily maintained through various sources. Campos meeting directly reveals PSG's intention to acquire him."
Despite PSG's movements, there has been no official offer yet. Al Nassr from Saudi Arabia is also reportedly interested in acquiring Kim Min-jae.
Bayern has placed Kim Min-jae on the sales list. They reinforced their defense by acquiring Jonathan Tah from Bayer Leverkusen. Consequently, they indicated that they would allow Kim Min-jae's transfer if a suitable offer comes in.
Kim Min-jae dedicated himself to the team during the 2024-2025 season, fighting through injuries, but what he received in return was a 'transfer decision.' He played a total of 43 matches, logging 3,593 minutes. In the league, he recorded 2,289 minutes, making him the second-highest in playing time on the team after Joshua Kimmich. Since October of last year, he has been unable to get enough rest due to repeated injuries among his teammates while battling an Achilles injury.
As a result, Bayern reclaimed the Bundesliga trophy after losing it to Bayer Leverkusen last season.
There have been criticisms regarding Kim Min-jae's performance. He faced backlash from fans for making critical mistakes in important matches such as the Champions League.
Bayern is reportedly not considering a loan for Kim Min-jae. They are only thinking about a sale. It is reported that they have set a transfer fee between €30 million (approximately 46.5 billion won) and €50 million (approximately 77.6 billion won).
There were also rumors of Kim Min-jae's transfer to AC Milan. However, Gazzetta dello Sport reported that "Kim Min-jae is receiving a high salary of €8 million (approximately 12.4 billion won) to €9 million (approximately 14 billion won) at Bayern, making it difficult for Milan to accommodate him."
On the other hand, PSG has sufficient financial capability backed by Qatari capital. If PSG actively pursues the acquisition of Kim Min-jae, the salary issue is not expected to be a hindrance.
PSG achieved a quadruple this season, including the Champions League title. With the potential departure of center-back Marquinhos, Kim Min-jae has emerged as a backup option. Foot Mercato reported, "Campos is looking for a suitable candidate in an uncertain situation regarding Marquinhos' future. Kim Min-jae has been detected on the radar."
However, it remains to be seen whether PSG's interest will lead to an actual transfer. Foot Mercato reported, "Kim Min-jae is under contract with Bayern until June 2028. His market value is estimated at €40 million (approximately 62 billion won). Bayern is seeking €50 million. It is uncertain whether PSG will pursue Kim Min-jae further."
