Gangwon FC has been decided to hold an important match at home.
Gangwon FC announced on the 9th, "We received approval from the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) to host the Champions League Elite (ACLE) home match."
It added, "The AFC recently sent an approval letter to the Korea Football Association, and the Korean Professional Football League conveyed this information to the club. Accordingly, the 2025-2026 season ACLE home matches for Gangwon FC are scheduled to be held in Chuncheon," it noted.
The AFC expressed in a letter, "We are pleased to confirm the approval of the venue for Gangwon FC's upcoming 2025-2026 season ACLE home matches based on the results of the inspection. However, this is contingent upon meeting the specified requirements and implementing the improvements. We request your continued attention and cooperation."
According to Gangwon FC, the AFC requested that the venue be maintained in good condition, as it has been well managed, until the match. They also informed about detailed improvements such as the installation of sinks in the medical room of the stadium and lighting for night training in the practice area.
Gangwon FC will do its best to prepare the improvements for the successful hosting of future ACLE home matches.
Kim Jin-tae, the governor and owner of Gangwon FC, stated, "I am happy to see the club's first ACL match held in Gangwon Special Self-Governing Province, and I thank the hardworking club and Chuncheon City," and added, "We will thoroughly prepare to make it a festival for the residents."
