Bucheon faced off in a fierce battle against K League 2 leader Incheon.
Bucheon lost 0-1 to Incheon United in the Hana Bank K League 2 2025 15th round held on the 8th at Incheon Football Stadium.
Currently, Bucheon is in 6th place among the 14 teams in the league. Their next opponent is 4th place Seoul E-Land, and this is a crucial time for a rebound in the mid-table battle.
After the match, Bucheon head coach Lee Young-min said, "Many fans came to our away match against Suwon, and today, as it is a regional match and a historic rivalry, many people supported us," adding, "It is very regrettable that we could not meet those expectations. For our next home game, I will make sure we can deliver a meaningful result."
Bucheon calmly dealt with the overwhelming power of Incheon and managed the game. It was fierce not only in defense but also in attack. Following the foreign duo Montano and Vasanyi, Lee Ui-hyung also showcased a lot of movement, applying strong pressure from the front.
Also, the newly introduced Galego actively moved to continue the pressure. Bucheon fought fiercely against Incheon, who brought in Mugosa, who returned after being called up to the A national team. It was regrettable that they could not earn points.
According to B-Pro 11 after the match, Bucheon slightly trailed Incheon with 47.5% possession throughout the game. The shooting statistics were significantly different. However, their pass success rate was 86.9%, surpassing Incheon's 86.6%. They also gained more free kick opportunities. While Incheon recorded 17 fouls, Bucheon committed only 10, demonstrating efficient football.
Head coach Lee Young-min explained after the match, "Maintaining high pressing throughout the game against Incheon was realistically difficult," saying, "In the first half, we emphasized defensive balance, and in the second half, we utilized substitution cards to attempt the flow we had planned."
He added, "If I had made a bolder choice, the result might have been different, but rather than that, I focused on finding a realistic way to win."
On the day, Bucheon effectively blocked Incheon's attacks with a generally stable defensive performance. Particularly in the first half, there were hardly any scoring threats except for an effective shot from Incheon's Park Ho-min, and the organized defensive movements were impressive.
Of course, there were also significant regrets. Coach Lee did not hide his discomfort regarding the power differential.
Coach Lee acknowledged, "It is true that there are differences based on objective squad composition and club budget," but explained, "Today we operated the game according to our pre-prepared plan, and after conceding a goal, we responded with a different tactic. Unfortunately, the scoring incident stemmed from a chaotic situation in front of the goal."
