Go Woo-seok (27), who has gone through four levels in a single year, has successfully made his first step in Triple-A.

Go Woo-seok was promoted to the Triple-A Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp, affiliated with the Miami Marlins, on the 7th (Korea time). This marks his return to Triple-A after being sent down to Double-A Pensacola Blue Wahoos on July 12 of last year, after 11 months.

On this day, Go Woo-seok, who pitched in the Triple-A game against the Durham Bulls (affiliated with the Tampa Bay Rays) at the Vista Park in Jacksonville, Florida, had a successful outing, allowing 1 hit, no walks, and striking out 1 in 1 inning without conceding any runs.

Wearing a uniform with the number 37, Go Woo-seok took the mound in the 8th inning, with the team trailing 0-7, and he retired the leadoff hitter, Bob Seymour, with a high curveball on the fifth pitch for a fly out to right field. He then allowed a hit to Dominic Keegan on a splitter that was high over the middle on the third pitch, but struck out Tristan Peters with a foul tip on the fourth pitch, a sharp fastball at 92.8 mph (149.3 km/h).

In the subsequent situation with two outs and a runner on first, he finished the inning by retiring Carson Williams with a high fastball at 91.9 mph (147.9 km/h) on the fifth pitch for a fly out to left field. He threw a total of 17 pitches, with 11 strikes and 6 balls, mixing 12 fastballs (at an average of 92.7 mph or 149.2 km/h) with 4 splitters and 1 curve.

Go Woo-seok joined the spring training camp as an invited player in February, but suffered a fracture to his right index finger while shadow pitching, starting the season on the injured list. After recovering, he marked his return to action by pitching in a game in the rookie league on the 9th of last month (2 innings, no hits, 1 walk, 3 strikeouts, and no runs), and moved to Low Single-A from the 15th to continue his rehabilitation appearances.

Although Go Woo-seok struggled with a 7-hit, 5-walk, 4-strikeout, and 4-run record with a 7.20 ERA over 4 games (5 innings) in Low Single-A Jupiter Hammerheads, he was elevated to High Single-A Beloit Sky Carp on the 2nd of this month, where he appeared in 2 games, pitching 2⅔ innings with 3 hits, 2 walks, 2 strikeouts, and 2 runs, resulting in a 6.75 ERA.

However, Go Woo-seok was promoted to Triple-A while skipping Double-A, and he successfully completed his first outing. Having reached just below the major league level, if he shows consistent performance, he could be called up to the big leagues.

Miami currently stands last in the National League (NL) East with a record of 23 wins and 38 losses (win percentage .377) this season. As they are going through a rebuilding season, the team's ERA ranks 27th (5.04) and the bullpen's ERA is also poor at 24th (4.45), providing an opportunity for Go Woo-seok.

Go Woo-seok, who was traded from the San Diego Padres to Miami in May of last year, has a salary of $2.25 million this year. Miami, with a total salary of $66.84 million, the lowest among the 30 teams, has Go Woo-seok as the fourth highest salary behind Sandy Alcantara ($17.3 million), Jesús Sánchez ($4.5 million), and Cal Quantrill ($3.5 million). Miami cannot afford to leave him idle, so there are expectations for Go Woo-seok's call-up once he is adequately prepared in Triple-A.
