The Doosan Bears of the Korea Professional Baseball league faced a setback as three key players suffered injuries and had to leave the game one after another.
On July 7, the Doosan Bears and Lotte Giants faced off in their eighth matchup of the 2025 Shinhan SOL Bank KBO League at Jamsil Stadium in Seoul.
The first player to leave the field was Park Gye-beom, who started at shortstop batting eighth. After hitting a single in the bottom of the second inning, he attempted to steal second base but complained of pain in his right shin between first and second base and was replaced by Lee Yoo-chan in the bottom of the fourth inning. A Doosan official noted, "Park Gye-beom was replaced for precautionary reasons due to muscle pain in his right shin. It is not serious, and the replacement is for management purposes."
The second injured player was Jeong Soo-bin, who started as the center fielder batting first. He complained of pain in his right hip while throwing to third base during the top of the second inning. Jeong Soo-bin was able to play normally until the bottom of the fourth inning, but was eventually replaced by Kim Dae-han at the beginning of the fifth inning. It was reported that Jeong Soo-bin's replacement was also precautionary.
The third injured player was Yang Eui-ji, the starting catcher batting third. After drawing a walk with one out in the bottom of the fifth inning, he was suddenly replaced by pinch runner Kim Gi-yeon while Jake Cave was at bat. A Doosan official explained, "The reason for Yang Eui-ji's replacement is discomfort in his right knee, and it was a precautionary replacement."
As of the top of the sixth inning, Doosan is trailing Lotte 4-5.
