The professional baseball team KT Wiz achieved a come-from-behind victory, extending its winning streak to three games.

KT won the home game against the SSG Landers on July 7 at Suwon KT Wiz Park with a score of 3-2.

Starting pitcher Ko Young-pyo earned his fifth win of the season (4 losses) with a 6-inning, 1-run performance, and after being silent with no runs until the fifth inning, the batting lineup turned it around in the sixth inning with three consecutive timely hits following a confrontation with Jang Sung-woo. Heo Kyoung-min had a decisive hit and recorded three hits with one RBI, and Lee Jung-hoon, who joined the team through a trade on the 2nd, also contributed with two hits and one RBI. Closer Park Young-hyun, who took responsibility for 1⅓ innings, became the first this season to reach 20 saves.

With this three-game winning streak, KT's record improved to 33 wins, 28 losses, and 3 ties (winning percentage .541). SSG, on the other hand, suffered its third consecutive loss, bringing its record to 31 wins, 29 losses, and 2 ties (winning percentage .517).

SSG took the lead in the top of the fourth. After consecutive left-field hits by Park Seong-han and Ko Myung-jun against Ko Young-pyo, and a sacrifice bunt by Lee Ji-young, the team created a 1 out, 2nd and 3rd base opportunity. Although Jeong Jun-jae struck out looking, Kim Chan-hyung hit a right-field timely hit, giving SSG a 1-0 lead.

Until the fifth inning, KT struggled with no runs against SSG's starter Drew Anderson, striking out 8 times. In the bottom of the sixth, KT created a first and second base chance with Lee Ho-yeon’s left-field hit and Ahn Hyun-min’s walk. Despite Mel Rojas Jr. and Jang Sung-woo striking out consecutively, leading to two outs, a delicate situation arose.

After seven pitches, Jang Sung-woo, who struck out looking, expressed his dissatisfaction toward pitcher Anderson, leading to a brief confrontation between the two players. While there was a high pitch on the third throw from Anderson, there was no emotional expression at that time. KT coaches and players quickly intervened to calm Jang Sung-woo, resolving the situation without a bench-clearing incident.

However, it seemed that Anderson's rhythm was shaken after the tenth strikeout, and following the confrontation with Jang Sung-woo, the game shifted. Lee Jung-hoon and Heo Kyoung-min hit back-to-back timely hits, allowing KT to turn the game around to 2-1. Although SSG replaced the pitcher with Lee Roo-woon, Oh Yun-seok hit an RBI double that dropped to the left of the left fielder, extending the lead to 3-1.

After a ten-day break, starting pitcher Ko Young-pyo delivered a quality start, pitching 6 innings with 6 hits allowed, 1 walk, 1 hit batter, 7 strikeouts, and 1 earned run, securing his fifth win of the season (4 losses). His earned run average dropped from 3.04 to 2.92.

Following this, the bullpen comprising Woo Kyu-min (⅔ inning, no earned runs), Jeon Yong-ju (⅓ inning, no earned runs), Won Sang-hyun (⅔ inning, 1 earned run), and Park Young-hyun (1⅓ inning, no earned runs) combined for 3 innings allowing only 1 earned run while maintaining the lead. Park Young-hyun, who was brought in with two outs and runners on 2nd and 3rd in the top of the 8th, allowed a 1-RBI double to Park Seong-han but managed to hold off any further earned runs until the top of the 9th. He became the first pitcher in the league this year to surpass 20 saves and achieved this feat for the second consecutive year after 25 saves last year.

SSG's starter Anderson pitched well for 5⅔ innings, allowing 7 hits, 1 walk, 10 strikeouts, and 3 earned runs, but he regretted allowing 3 runs in just one inning in the sixth. Anderson, who suffered his 3rd loss of the season (4 wins), also saw his earned run average rise from 2.08 to 2.28. Although Park Seong-han hit 3 hits with 1 RBI, he could not prevent the team's defeat.
