Center back Kim Min-jae (29, Bayern Munich) is reportedly a candidate to wear the uniform of English Premier League (EPL) club Liverpool.
British media 'CaughtOffside' reported on the 6th (Korea time) that “the possibility of Kim Min-jae's transfer from Bayern is increasing. Liverpool is pushing to sign Kim Min-jae.”
Bayern is said to be promoting the transfer by lowering Kim Min-jae's market value.
The media noted, “Bayern has lowered Kim Min-jae's market value from 50 million euros (approximately 77.5 billion won) to 35 million euros (approximately 54.2 billion won). Kim Min-jae is also said to want to transfer.”
In Germany, rumors about Kim Min-jae's transfer have been ongoing. 'Bavarian Football Works' reported that “Kim Min-jae has struggled to adapt since joining Munich, and recently suffered an Achilles injury, distancing him from the lineup.”
Liverpool recently announced the re-signing of captain Virgil van Dijk. If Kim Min-jae transfers to Liverpool, he is expected to form a center back duo with Van Dijk on the EPL stage.
Liverpool is not the only club targeting Kim Min-jae. 'CaughtOffside' reported that “Newcastle United has already begun initial negotiations. Chelsea is also considering signing Kim Min-jae to strengthen their defense. Paris Saint-Germain and AC Milan are keeping an eye on Kim Min-jae's situation.”
European football expert Fabrizio Romano also projected Kim Min-jae's transfer. On the 22nd, Romano analyzed on his social media account that “Kim Min-jae will go to Saudi Arabia or the EPL. A club that can afford his high weekly wage is needed.”
Kim Min-jae previously stated, “I have no reason to leave,” but the situation is changing. With the addition of strong competitor Jonathan Tah, Kim Min-jae has lost his standing. Bayern appears to be essentially taking steps towards parting ways with Kim Min-jae.
