Speculation about Son Heung-min (33, Tottenham Hotspur) is ongoing.

British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) cited the British news agency PA Media, reporting that "the condition for Tottenham to sell 'captain' Son Heung-min this summer is if a 'considerable transfer fee' comes in."

Son Heung-min is contracted with Tottenham until June 2026.

From Tottenham's perspective, this summer is virtually the last chance to sell Son Heung-min and secure a substantial transfer fee. Although there is the winter transfer market, if a sale does not occur by then, he would have to be transferred for free after the contract expires.

The summer transfer window for the Saudi league opens on July 20.

PA Media reported that "interest in acquiring Son Heung-min has risen again in the Saudi Professional League, where transfer rumors circulated two years ago."

The BBC noted, "At 32 years old, Son Heung-min secured a victory for Tottenham in the Europa League final against Manchester United last month, bringing the club its first European trophy in 40 years. He also secured a place in next season's Champions League. However, this season, struggling with injuries, he scored only 11 goals, the lowest since his debut season."

Nonetheless, Son Heung-min is universally regarded as a Tottenham legend. Over the past 10 years, he has played a total of 454 matches for Tottenham, scoring 173 goals and providing 101 assists. He ranks sixth for most appearances and fifth for most goals in the club's history. Since 2023, he has been leading the team as the first Asian player to wear the captain's armband.

However, Son Heung-min's future at Tottenham is uncertain. He is currently attracting interest from Saudi Arabian clubs backed by 'oil money.' It is reported that Al Nassr, Al Ittihad, and Al Hilal, all supported by the Saudi Public Investment Fund (PIF), are interested in acquiring Son Heung-min.

ESPN also reported on the 31st of last month, citing Talk Sport, that "Son Heung-min of Tottenham is becoming a target for several teams in the Saudi Professional League looking to bring skilled players into the league and enter new international markets."

The media added, "The summer transfer window for the Saudi league opens on July 20. At 32 years old, South Korean national team forward Son Heung-min is expected to be one of many targets." According to reports from British outlets like The Sun, Tottenham is reluctant to sell Son Heung-min, but they would consider accepting a substantial offer.
