Rookie pitcher Jung Hyun-woo (19) of the professional baseball team Kiwoom Heroes played in a rehab game in the Futures League but allowed 5 runs in one inning.

Jung Hyun-woo took the mound as the starting pitcher in the game against the 2025 Futures League LG Twins held on the 3rd at Goyang Stadium, recording 2⅓ innings, 5 hits, 1 walk, 2 strikeouts, and 5 runs allowed.

The first inning ended with three batters retired in order. He struck out Park Kwan-woo swinging, got Kim Joo-seong to hit a ground ball to the shortstop, and ended the inning with a fly out to center field from Ham Chang-geun.

However, he allowed runs in the second inning. He walked lead-off hitter Kim Sung-jin and gave up a two-base hit that went over the left fielder's head to Kim Sung-woo. He struck out Son Yong-jun on a swinging strikeout on the fourth pitch with two strikes.

However, with one out and runners on second and third, he allowed 2 runs on a first-pitch, timely hit to Kim Min-soo. He then gave up a single to the left fielder to Kim Soo-in with two strikes. With one out and runners on first and second, he allowed a two-run double to Seo Young-jun in left-center, making the score 0-4.

He got the second out by inducing a ground ball to second base from Park Kwan-woo, while the runners advanced to third base. He allowed the fifth run on a first-pitch double to the left side from Kim Joo-seong. He ended the inning with a fly out to left field from Ham Chang-geun.

In the third inning, he got the lead-off hitter Kim Sung-jin out on a fly ball to the right fielder on the 9th pitch. Afterwards, Jo Yeong-geon came on as a relief pitcher. He was replaced after throwing 53 pitches.

Jung Hyun-woo, who was selected by Kiwoom with the first overall pick in the 2025 rookie draft, started the season as the fifth starter. He pitched in 3 exhibition games, winning 2 and recording an earned run average of 0.82, generating high expectations. He pitched 11 innings, allowing 6 hits, 5 walks, and striking out 10 batters while giving up 2 runs (1 earned).

Jung Hyun-woo made his professional debut on March 26 against the KIA Tigers. He recorded the 12th debut win for a high school rookie by allowing 6 runs (4 earned) in 8 innings while giving up 8 hits. However, he threw an impressive 122 pitches, the second-highest for a debut game by a high school rookie, just behind Kim Tae-hyoung's 135 pitches in 1991. There were concerns about overuse. Jung Hyun-woo made 2 more appearances but was placed on the injured list on April 17 due to a shoulder injury.

After more than a month of rehabilitation, Jung Hyun-woo started as the pitcher against the Hanwha Eagles in the Futures League on May 27, throwing 25 pitches in 1 inning and allowing 2 hits, 1 walk, and 2 runs (unearned). His fastball peaked at 146 km/h. On the 3rd, in his second rehab appearance against LG, he increased his pitch count to 50, but the pitching performance was not good.
