The Kiwoom Heroes of professional baseball achieved a comeback victory, thanks to Song Seung-moon's personal best tying performance of 6 runs batted in. They secured their first win against the Lotte Giants after 8 games this season. The Lotte Giants couldn't fully celebrate captain Jeon Jun-woo's milestone of 2000 hits.
On the 4th, Kiwoom won the game against Lotte by a score of 9-6 at Sajik Stadium in Busan during the regular season of the 2025 Shinhan SOL Bank KBO League. With this, Kiwoom achieved their first win against Lotte after 8 games this season. The head-to-head record is 1 win and 7 losses. Although Lotte's captain Jeon Jun-woo reached his 2000 hits milestone that day, starting pitcher Park Se-woong struggled, allowing 5 earned runs in 5⅓ innings, leading to their defeat.
Kiwoom started with Song Seung-moon (third baseman), Choi Joo-hwan (first baseman), Lee Joo-hyung (center fielder), Kim Dong-yeop (designated hitter), Kim Tae-jin (second baseman), Won Seong-jun (left fielder), Kim Jae-hyun (catcher), Oh Jun-seo (shortstop), and Park Ju-hong (right fielder). The starting pitcher was Kim Yun.
Lotte's ace Park Se-woong started the game. Their starting lineup consisted of Jang Du-seong (center fielder), Go Seung-min (second baseman), Reyes (left fielder), Jeon Jun-woo (designated hitter), Yoon Dong-hee (right fielder), Jeon Min-jae (shortstop), Son Ho-young (third baseman), Yoo Kang-nam (catcher), and Jung Hoon (first baseman).
Lotte had a chance to load the bases with nobody out in the first inning. Jang Du-seong's single to left, Go Seung-min's walk, and Reyes' single to center created a bases-loaded situation. However, the first batter Jeon Jun-woo popped out to the second baseman. With one out and the bases still loaded, Yoon Dong-hee's sacrifice fly brought in the first run. Subsequently, Jeon Min-jae grounded out to the shortstop. They only managed to score one run with the bases loaded.
In the bottom of the third, Lotte seized another opportunity with leadoff batter Go Seung-min's infield single. Although Reyes grounded out to the shortstop, resulting in the first out, Jeon Jun-woo's single to left advanced the runners to second and third with one out. Then, Yoon Dong-hee hit another sacrifice fly to right field, bringing the score to 2-0.
Lotte's starting pitcher Park Se-woong struggled against the Kiwoom lineup throughout the day. He faced difficult innings and had particular trouble against the lower batting order. Kiwoom did not miss the opportunity and quickly turned the game around.
In the fourth inning, leadoff batter Kim Tae-jin's single to right and Won Seong-jun's walk created a first-and-second situation with nobody out. Kim Jae-hyun's grounder to the pitcher resulted in one out with runners on first and third, but Oh Jun-seo drew a walk to keep the bases loaded with one out. Park Ju-hong struck out. However, with two outs and the bases loaded, Song Seung-moon smashed a three-run double into the left-center gap, turning the score to 3-2.
Lotte managed to tie the game again in the fifth inning. Leadoff batter Reyes hit a double that cleared the left fielder's head. Jeon Jun-woo's grounder to the pitcher resulted in one out at third, and Yoon Dong-hee's ground out to the shortstop brought in the runner from third, making the score 3-3. Yoon Dong-hee had 3 RBIs without a hit.
However, Lotte quickly lost the tie they had just created. In the sixth, after one out, Park Se-woong gave consecutive walks to Oh Jun-seo and Park Ju-hong. Kiwoom's Song Seung-moon came to the plate again. Lotte's bench decided to replace the pitcher with Kim Jin-wook. However, Song Seung-moon remained unfazed and launched a three-run home run over the left field fence on a 146 km/h fastball, bringing the score back to 6-3. His low trajectory hit had an angle of 23.6 degrees as it just cleared the fence.
But the game did not flow as Kiwoom had hoped. In the bottom of the seventh, Lotte scored 2 runs. Leadoff batter Reyes's single to left and Jeon Jun-woo's double that cleared the left fielder's head created a situation with nobody out and runners on second and third. This double by Jeon Jun-woo marked the 20th milestone of his career with 2000 hits. After Yoon Dong-hee grounded out to the second baseman, Jeon Min-jae's timely hit to right brought in one run. Due to an error by right fielder Park Ju-hong in throwing home, the runner on second Jeon Jun-woo also scored, bringing the score to 5-6.
However, Kiwoom brought in Joo Seung-woo and did not allow the tying run in the continuing one out, two on threat. Ultimately, they extended their lead again in the top of the eighth inning. With nobody out and one on, Lee Hyeong-jong, in his first at-bat of the day, hit a solo home run against Lotte's reliable pitcher Choi Jun-yong. Kiwoom pulled ahead again, 7-5.
Lotte had another chance in the bottom of the eighth inning. Leadoff batter Jung Hoon hit a double that cleared the left fielder's head, and Jang Du-seong's fly ball to center field created a situation with one out and a runner on third. However, Go Seung-min struck out. Reyes and Jeon Jun-woo drew consecutive walks to load the bases with two outs, but Yoon Dong-hee's line drive to the shortstop resulted in a failure to score.
Then, in the top of the ninth inning, Kiwoom's Park Su-jong hit a two-run home run off of Kim Sang-su with two outs and one on, sealing the victory. It was Park Su-jong's first career home run. Lotte managed to score one run in the bottom of the ninth with Jeon Min-jae's solo home run, but that was all.
