The Hanwha Eagles achieved a comeback victory with manager Kim Kyung-moon's signature aggressive base running. They continued the race for the top spot, pressuring the first-place LG Twins by half a game.

Hanwha won the home game against the KT Wiz in the 2025 Shinhan SOL Bank KBO League, held at Hanwha Life Eagles Park in Daejeon, on the 4th by a score of 4-3.

KT's starting pitcher Oh Won-seok showed his prowess by recording a personal best of 10 Samjin strikes through the 7th inning with two outs, but Hanwha turned the game around with aggressive base running.

Trailing 1-2, leadoff hitter Chae Eun-seong got a hit to left in the 7th, followed by speedy pinch runner Lee Won-seok on base. Although Lee Jin-young struck out swinging, Kim Tae-yean followed with a hit to left. In a 1-out, 1st and 2nd base situation during Choi Jae-hun's at-bat, a double steal occurred. On the 4th pitch, all runners on 1st and 2nd stole bases, advancing each by one base.

Choi Jae-hun struck out swinging, but the double steal created a chance to turn the game around with just one hit. At this point, Lee Do-yoon stepped up as the solution. He connected with Oh Won-seok's second pitch, a high curve, and hit a two-RBI single that dropped in front of the right fielder, turning the score to 3-2.

Riding the momentum, when Estevan Florial came up to bat, Oh Won-seok's first pitch fastball resulted in a wild pitch, leading to two outs with a runner on second base. With a hit from pinch hitter Choi In-ho, the runner on second, Lee Do-yoon, did not stop and rushed home after passing third base to add an insurance run.

Following that, Hwang Young-mook, who entered as a pinch runner for Choi In-ho, stole second base. With two outs and a runner on second, Hanwha continued to pressure KT. Although no additional runs scored from Moon Hyun-bin's groundball to second, they executed three steals in a single inning, including a double steal, in the 7th.

Hanwha had also succeeded in stealing four bases the previous day (3rd) against KT, steadily accumulating runs to win 10-1. The runners continued to advance actively that day, connecting with a low-scoring game win.

After the game, Kim Kyung-moon noted, "Starting pitcher Ryan Weiss came out earlier than expected, but the players didn’t give up and did their best until the end of the game. In particular, they showed concentration during scoring chances in the 7th, and with their best efforts, we were able to take the lead and seize the victory."

Starting pitcher Ryan Weiss threw 41 pitches in just the 4th inning, failing to manage his pitch count; however, he exited after completing five innings, allowing four hits, three walks, one hit-by-pitch, four Samjin strikes, and two earned runs. The bullpen, consisting of Ju Hyun-sang (1 inning), Cho Dong-uk (⅔ inning), Park Sang-won (⅓ inning), Han Seung-hyeok (1 inning), and Kim Seo-hyeon (1 inning with 1 earned run), combined for four innings allowing just one earned run to secure the comeback victory. Park Sang-won picked up his 4th win (2 losses) of the season, Han Seung-hyeok recorded his 9th hold, and Kim Seo-hyeon notched his 16th save.

Having secured a winning series against KT, Hanwha solidified their second-place position with a record of 36 wins and 24 losses (winning percentage of .600). They trailed first-place LG (36 wins, 23 losses, 1 tie, winning percentage of .611), who lost 5-6 against NC in Changwon, by half a game.

On the 5th, Hanwha will challenge for a sweep with Ryu Hyun-jin as the starting pitcher against KT, who will counter with Emmanuel De Jesus.
