The Lotte Giants have escaped a two-game losing streak. Alec Gamboa secured his first win of the season with a dominant performance. Additionally, they continued their perfect record against Kiwoom this year, winning all seven encounters.

On the 3rd, Lotte claimed a commanding 8-0 victory against the Kiwoom Heroes in the regular season of the '2025 Shinhan SOL Bank KBO League', held at Busan Sajik Stadium. Lotte escaped a two-game losing streak, recording 32 wins, 25 losses, and 3 draws. After escaping a ten-game losing streak, Kiwoom came off two consecutive wins but knelt again against Lotte. They have now lost seven straight to Lotte this season, making it nine consecutive defeats dating back to last year, with a season record of 16 wins, 45 losses, and 1 draw.

The Kiwoom starting lineup consisted of Song Seong-mun (designated hitter), Choi Joo-hwan (first baseman), Im Ji-yeol (right fielder), Kim Keon-hee (catcher), Lee Hyung-jong (left fielder), Oh Seon-jin (third baseman), Song Ji-hoo (second baseman), Uh Joon-seo (shortstop), and Park Su-jong (center fielder).

Lotte started with Jang Du-seong (center fielder), Go Seung-min (second baseman), Reyes (left fielder), Jeon Jun-woo (designated hitter), Yoon Dong-hee (right fielder), Jeon Min-jae (shortstop), Son Ho-young (third baseman), Yoo Kang-nam (catcher), and Jung Hoon (first baseman). The starting pitcher was Alec Gamboa.

Lotte seized control from the very first inning. They gained an opportunity with a walk from lead-off hitter Jang Du-seong, and Go Seung-min hit an RBI double to left-center to create a simple first score. Later, on a 1 ball and 2 strikes count against Kim Yeon-joo with no outs and a runner on second, Reyes hit a two-run home run with a 138 km/h four-seam fastball. This was his seventh home run of the season. They led 3-0.

Following that, with no outs and runners on first and second after consecutive hits by Jeon Jun-woo and Yoon Dong-hee, Jeon Min-jae hit a ground ball back to the pitcher. However, pitcher Kim Yeon-joo made a bad throw to second, allowing the runner on second to touch home plate. It became 4-0. However, in the continued opportunity with no outs and runners on first and second, Son Ho-young's double play resulted in a failure to score additional runs.

Kiwoom managed to create an opportunity with one out in the second inning against Gamboa, with consecutive hits from Lee Hyung-jong and Oh Seon-jin leading to a chance with one out and runners on first and second. However, subsequent batters Song Ji-hoo and Uh Joon-seo both grounded out, missing the chance. From that point until the seventh inning, they were dominated without even drawing a walk.

Lotte also failed to capitalize on an additional scoring opportunity later. In the fifth inning, lead-off hitter Reyes hit a double to left-center, but they failed to score from a situation with one out and runners on first and third created by Jeon Jun-woo's pop-up to center field and Yoon Dong-hee's walk. The runner on third, Reyes, was out while attempting to tag up on Jeon Min-jae's pop-up to right field, resulting in a failure to score.

However, in the bottom of the seventh inning, they seized an opportunity with a walk from lead-off hitter Jang Du-seong. Go Seung-min's ground ball to second base resulted in the lead runner being out at first, but Reyes followed up with a hit to left-center, and a walk by Jeon Jun-woo set up a one-out bases loaded situation. Yoon Dong-hee then delivered a sacrifice fly to center field, allowing for a valuable additional score. In a continued situation with two outs and runners on first and second, Jeon Min-jae hit an RBI single to left, extending the lead to 6-0.

Gamboa pitched 7 innings, throwing 99 pitches with 2 hits allowed, 1 walk, 6 strikeouts, and a perfect game. He utilized 59 fastballs peaking at 155 km/h, 21 sliders, 12 curves, and 7 changeups to completely tame Kiwoom's batting lineup. He earned his first win in the KBO.

In the eighth inning, with one out and the bases loaded, Lotte drove in additional runs through Reyes' bases-loaded walk and Jeon Jun-woo's RBI single.
