Kevin De Bruyne (34) is heading to Napoli, concluding his 10-year journey with Manchester City.

Italian journalist Nicolo Schira noted on his social media account on Nov. 1 (Korea time) that "De Bruyne is joining Napoli as a free agent (FA). The contract lasts until 2027, with an option for a one-year extension."

He further hinted that "De Bruyne will be the highest-paid player on the team."

European football transfer market expert Fabrizio Romano said, "De Bruyne's total salary will reach €27 million (approximately 42.4 billion won) over three years." Due to tax issues, the net income is expected to be between €25 million and €27 million.

According to Schira, De Bruyne received offers from several European teams, including the Chicago Fire of Major League Soccer (MLS) in the United States, but ultimately decided to go to Napoli.

Napoli won the Serie A title this season, surpassing Inter Milan. Coach Antonio Conte led the team, which finished 10th last season, back to the top after two years, reclaiming the Scudetto.

French media Foot Mercato reported that "Napoli has completed the signing of De Bruyne. Club president Aurelio De Laurentiis mentioned days ago that there was a high possibility of De Bruyne's arrival, which has now come true."

De Bruyne has lifted numerous trophies, including six Premier League titles, one UEFA Champions League title, two FA Cups, and five EFL Cups since joining Man City in 2015. He recorded 108 goals and 177 assists in a total of 422 matches, establishing himself as a legend at Man City.

He substituted in the 40th minute of the match against Fulham on the 26th of last month, delivering a farewell to the fans. He later announced that he would not participate in the Club World Cup, making the Fulham match his farewell game with Man City.

Man City announced that they plan to erect a statue at Etihad Stadium to honor De Bruyne, who dedicated 10 years to the club. De Bruyne said, "I can always come back and see myself. I will forever be here."

Currently, statues of Vincent Kompany, David Silva, Sergio Aguero, Colin Bell, Mike Summerbee, and Francis Lee are erected at the Man City stadium.

De Bruyne stated, "Man City did not make any offers, and the club made the decision. It was surprising, but I have to accept it. I still believe I can play at the highest level."
