Despite winning a trophy for the first time in 17 years, Tottenham Hotspur appears set to dismiss Ange Postecoglou (59, Tottenham) as head coach.

The British media outlet 'Football Insider' reported on the 1st (Korea time) that "Tottenham has decided to fire coach Postecoglou. Daniel Levy, chairman of Tottenham, has been traveling abroad in recent weeks, which is why there has not yet been an official announcement."

Moreover, the outlet mentioned that "Tottenham's top brass decided to end their collaboration with coach Postecoglou just a week after the club won the UEFA Europa League (UCL) title in Bilbao."

Although coach Postecoglou led Tottenham to the UCL title, he faced humiliation in the Premier League this season with 22 losses, achieving a dismal 17th place. The previous lowest record for Tottenham was 15th place in the 1993-1994 season.

The club's leadership seems to have taken the league standings as a benchmark for evaluating coach Postecoglou.

Tottenham is reported to have already compiled a list of candidates for his successor.

'Football Insider' noted that "Tottenham is preparing to appoint one of three candidates with proven experience in the Premier League as their next head coach."

Coach Postecoglou has strongly expressed his desire to remain at Tottenham. During the UCL victory parade on the 24th, he remarked, "The best drama is usually better in season 3 than in season 2." He also said, "We won a trophy for the first time in 17 years and secured a berth in the Champions League for the next season. If someone had asked for such a result at the start of the season, no one would have said yes."

However, a harsh reality awaited. According to 'Football Insider', Tottenham has already identified Frank (Brentford), Silva (Fulham), and Iraola (Bournemouth) as potential successors and is in discussions with them. All three candidates are considered to have proven capabilities in the Premier League and are highly regarded for their skills in player development.

In particular, coach Silva has even attracted interest from Saudi Arabian clubs, suggesting that Tottenham might fall behind in financial competition. Coach Frank has a buyout clause in his contract, but Chairman Levy has historically hesitated to activate it.

Coach Iraola is about to renegotiate with Bournemouth. As a result, there are expectations that Tottenham's focus will shift towards Silva and Frank.
