Kevin De Bruyne (34), who left Manchester City for a new challenge, will wear a Napoli uniform.

Italian journalist Nicolo Schira noted on his social media account on June 1 (Korea time) that "De Bruyne will join Napoli as a free agent. The contract extends until 2027 and includes a one-year extension option."

He added, "Napoli is confident that it will finalize De Bruyne's acquisition in early June. De Bruyne will receive the highest salary at Napoli."

According to Schira, De Bruyne received offers from Major League Soccer (MLS) Chicago Fire and several European teams. However, he chose Napoli after careful consideration.

French outlet 'Foot Mercato' also reported, "Napoli has confirmed the acquisition of De Bruyne. Club President Aurelio De Laurentiis stated a few days ago that De Bruyne was highly likely to join Napoli soon, and the promise has been kept."

Napoli topped Serie A this season, surpassing Inter Milan. Last season, Napoli finished 10th and reclaimed the Scudetto (Serie A trophy) under coach Antonio Conte after two years.

Specific contract terms have also been revealed. European football transfer expert Fabrizio Romano stated, "De Bruyne's total salary will reach 27 million euros (approximately 42.4 billion won) over three years." Expected net income is projected to be between 25 million and 27 million euros due to tax issues.

De Bruyne, who joined Manchester City in 2015, led the club to six Premier League titles, one UEFA Champions League (UCL) title, two FA Cup victories, and five EFL Cup titles during Manchester City's golden era. He recorded 108 goals and 177 assists in a total of 422 matches, establishing himself as a legend at Manchester City.

He bid farewell to Manchester City fans after coming on as a substitute in the 40th minute during the match against Fulham on the 26th of last month. He stated that he would not participate in the Club World Cup, making that match his farewell game.

Manchester City stated, "To honor De Bruyne's ten years of dedication, we plan to erect a statue at Etihad Stadium." De Bruyne remarked, "As a member of Manchester City, I can always return and see my likeness here. I will forever be a part of this place."

Currently, statues of Vincent Kompany, David Silva, Sergio Agüero, Colin Bell, Mike Summerbee, and Francis Lee are erected at Manchester City.

Finishing a ten-year journey with Manchester City, De Bruyne revealed, "Manchester City made no offers, and the club made the decision. It was surprising, but I must accept it. I still believe I can perform at the highest level."

Meanwhile, Napoli is showing interest in acquiring not only De Bruyne but also Alejandro Garnacho (Manchester United) and Lee Kang-in (Paris Saint-Germain).
