Desire Due (20, PSG) made history in European football at the age of 19.

Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) claimed a 5-0 victory against Inter Milan in the 2024-2025 season UEFA Champions League final at Munich's Fussball Arena on July 1 (Korean time).

This season, PSG won the domestic treble, securing the French Ligue 1, Trophée des Champions, and Coupe de France. They also conquered Europe, achieving the "quadruple."

On that day, PSG deployed a 4-3-3 formation. Desire Due, Ousmane Dembélé, and Khvicha Kvaratskhelia positioned themselves at the front line. In the midfield, João Neves, Vitinha, and Fabian Ruiz took their places. The defense was composed of Nuno Mendes, William Pacho, Marquinhos, and Achraf Hakimi. Gianluigi Donnarumma served as the goalkeeper. Lee Kang-in, who was named on the bench, did not step onto the field.

Inter faced off with a 3-5-2 formation. Lautaro Martínez and Rilijan Turan aimed to score, while Federico Dimarco, Henrikh Mkhitaryan, Hakan Çalhanoğlu, Nicolò Barella, and Denzel Dumfries held the midfield. The defensive line featured Alessandro Bastoni, Francesco Acerbi, and Benjamin Pavard. Jan Sommer guarded the goal.

At the very beginning of the first half, both teams engaged in a probing match.

PSG took the lead in the 12th minute of the first half with a goal from Hakimi. Eight minutes later, Desire Due scored another goal, receiving a cross from Dembélé during a counterattack. The first half concluded with PSG dominating at 2-0.

In the second half, PSG did not stop. In the 18th minute, Due scored a multi-goal with a one-touch shot from Vitinha's pass, and in the 28th minute, Khvicha added the fourth goal with a composed finish. In the 41st minute, Myarlu, who was substituted in, scored the fifth and final goal of the match after receiving a shot from Barcola.

PSG completely dominated the game with 21 shots (10 on target) to Inter's 5 (none), and held 60% possession compared to 40%.

Meanwhile, Lee Kang-in, who was included in the bench list, ended the final without getting a chance to substitute. Coach Enrique used all five substitution cards in the second half, but Lee's name was not called.

On that day, PSG conquered the European stage with a perfect performance, realizing a dream that had not been achieved even during the Lionel Messi, Neymar, and Kylian Mbappé era.

After the match, UEFA selected Due as the Player of the Match (POTM), highlighting his two goals and one assist, four shots, three chances created, five touches in the opponent's box, one successful dribble, and four attacking passes.

UEFA's technical observer noted, "Scoring two goals and providing one assist in a Champions League final at 19 years old is remarkable. He showed incredible maturity and demonstrated selfless play in assisting Hakimi's goal. He also showed dedication in defense," explaining the reason for the POTM selection.

Due told 'TNT Sports' in an interview, "I can't express it in words. It was an unbelievable night. Really, I have no words. I'm sorry," he said, pausing the interview briefly.

He then added, "What happened tonight is still hard to believe. We rewrote the history of our club, the history of French football, and the history of European football."

He continued, "This club is used to playing big matches. Tonight was truly fantastic. It was a great season, and we are a really good team. We showed that in today's match. We will continue to improve and work hard. We have a great coach and a great team."

Due said, "Today we faced a really strong team in Inter Milan. We wanted to score as many goals as possible, and we are very satisfied with tonight and the entire season. We have to keep working hard. Really, I'm very happy."

He added, "It still doesn't feel real that we won the Champions League. We have rewritten the history of this club. This club has ambition, and we are a great team. We proved that tonight. It was truly a magical night."

According to UEFA, Due and Myarlu simultaneously entered the ranks of the youngest goal scorers in the Champions League final. Additionally, Due's name is listed among those who have recorded multiple goals in the Champions League final, alongside Gareth Bale and Cristiano Ronaldo.
