Saudi oil money is insane.
The Sun reported on the 31st that "Saudi elite team Al Hilal is targeting Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes (31). Al Hilal is willing to spend a transfer fee of 100 million pounds (approximately 182.6 billion won). Fernandes' weekly salary amounts to 700,000 pounds (approximately 13 billion won)."
Fernandes has been playing for Manchester United since 2020 after his time at Sporting. He has scored 62 goals in 195 matches while serving as Manchester United's captain.
It is not an exaggeration to say that Fernandes is single-handedly fulfilling the role of a veteran in a collapsed Manchester United. Manchester United fell to 15th place in the Premier League last season, marking their decline. Recently, they also faced a disgraceful 0-1 defeat in a friendly match against the ASEAN All-Stars.
The BBC, known for its credibility, also viewed the possibility of Fernandes moving to Saudi Arabia as high. The BBC reported, "Fernandes is seriously considering leaving Manchester United for Saudi Al Hilal."
Manchester United coach Ruben Amorim noted, "Fernandes has not mentioned anything separately. But he must play in the world’s top league. He needs to be where he wants to play. When talking to me, he said he wants to continue playing at Manchester United," thus discouraging a move to Saudi Arabia.
Fernandes' potential move to Saudi Arabia is significant as it could serve as a benchmark for Son Heung-min. Son is also receiving substantial offers from the Saudi league. Considering Son's career achievements, including being the Premier League's top scorer and winning the UEFA Europa League, there is a high possibility that a deal comparable to Fernandes' could materialize.
