Lee Cheon-soo expressed his views on Son Heung-min's (33, Tottenham) transfer to the Saudi league.

The Sun reported on the 29th, "Tottenham is seriously considering selling Son Heung-min to a Saudi league club this summer. Son wants to stay at Tottenham and has led them to victory in the UEFA Europa League. However, selling Son for a tremendous amount could provide funds to acquire new players capable of competing in the Champions League."

It is not new for top European players to transfer to Saudi Arabia in the later stages of their careers while receiving a lot of money. Son's idol, Cristiano Ronaldo, also transferred to Al Nassr for an annual salary of 270 billion won.

On the 27th, Lee Cheon-soo expressed his views on Son Heung-min's transfer rumors to Saudi Arabia on his YouTube channel "Richun-soo." Lee Cheon-soo also played for Al Nassr from 2009 to 2010.

Lee Cheon-soo noted, "Saudi Arabia is currently the hottest league. With the match between Al Hilal and Gwangju, it is almost like a European team. When I was there, the team consisted mostly of Saudi players, with 3-4 foreign players," expressing his sense of changes over time.

How much could Son Heung-min earn if he goes to Saudi Arabia? Lee Cheon-soo estimated, "It seems that Saudi Arabia would bet between 30-35 billion won on Heung-min's salary. It would be for about 2 years, so that makes it between 30-70 billion. Heung-min has shown performances at the top level in Europe. The only difference is that the country is Saudi Arabia, but the league is a European league. It's time for compensation."

Korean fans are negative. They hope the captain of the national team continues to play in the top European league. There is a logic that transferring to Saudi Arabia is choosing money over honor.

Lee Cheon-soo said, "There are fans asking why Heung-min would go to Saudi Arabia. We must not forget the competitiveness he has shown in Europe for 10 years. He has fought hard while being in pain for the national team. If he goes to Saudi Arabia, he might be seen more in the AFC," expressing his support for Son Heung-min.

With major leaguers, it is common for them to return to Korea to retire in the later stages of their careers. However, there are no clubs in Korea that can afford Son Heung-min.

Lee Cheon-soo pointed out that "even if 10 billion won is offered in Korea, (acquiring Son Heung-min) is not feasible. Korea cannot place such a bet. If Heung-min comes to Korea and his performance is poor, won’t the fans ridicule him again?" highlighting the lack of realism.
