Son Heung-min (33, Tottenham Hotspur) may have the possibility of transferring if he receives a huge offer from a Saudi Arabian club this summer. This is because Tottenham may decide to sell him.

The British media 'The Sun' reported on the 29th (Korea time) that "Saudi Arabian clubs are showing interest in acquiring Son Heung-min. Tottenham may consider selling him if a large transfer fee is offered."

Saudi clubs seem to have picked Son Heung-min as a replacement for Cristiano Ronaldo (Al Nassr), who is likely to leave. Initially, Liverpool's Mohamed Salah was the top target, but the direction changed after he decided to stay.

Saudi football officials reportedly assessed, "Son Heung-min is a symbolic figure in Korea. He is a suitable marketing resource for targeting the East Asian market."

Son Heung-min received interest from Saudi clubs last summer as well. According to U.S. CBS Sports, Al Ittihad offered a transfer fee of $65 million (approximately 90.8 billion won) and a four-year contract worth €120 million (approximately 187.6 billion won) for Son Heung-min. However, he chose to remain in England, citing his desire for victories.

Son Heung-min has previously expressed his stance on rumors of a transfer to the Saudi league. After a match against El Salvador in 2023, he said, "I remember when (Ki) Sung-yueng said, 'The captain of the South Korean national team does not go to the Chinese league.' I have things left to accomplish in the Premier League," showing his intention to decline.

The 'things he has to do' were thought to be about winning, as he had not yet experienced lifting a trophy with his team. However, his situation is different this season. Son Heung-min finally achieved his first victory in the Europa League in the 2024-2025 season.

Son Heung-min, who will turn 33 in July, recorded 11 goals and 12 assists in 46 official matches this season. In the Premier League, he managed only 7 goals in 30 matches. This marked the first time since joining in the 2015-2016 season that he has remained in single-digit goals. However, separate from personal performance, Son Heung-min achieved his first victory in the Europa League.

'The Sun' stated, "Although Son Heung-min is still a key player for Tottenham, his personal performance this season has not met expectations," arguing that the money generated from selling him should be used to prepare for next season’s Champions League.

Despite finishing 17th in the Premier League, Tottenham earned a Champions League ticket for next season as the winner of the Europa League.

There are opinions suggesting that Son Heung-min, who has accomplished everything he can at Tottenham, could now transfer. In the competitive professional world, it is said that this coming summer would be an ideal time for a split.

In January, the option to extend his contract with Tottenham was triggered, extending it until June 2026.

This summer may be Tottenham's last chance to sell Son Heung-min and secure a hefty transfer fee. Although there is also a winter transfer window, if he is not sold by next season, they would have to let him go 'for free.'

Tottenham has already completed the search for a replacement for Son Heung-min. The British media 'Sky Sports' reported on the 30th, "Tottenham is willing to pay around £55 million (approximately 110.7 billion won) to acquire Tyler Dibling (19) from Southampton." The transfer fee is £20 million higher than the £35 million Tottenham initially proposed.

Dibling has made his mark this season with 4 goals and 3 assists in 38 matches for Southampton. He is a left-footed winger known for his quick penetrations and ability to use space. Tottenham attempted to acquire Dibling last January, but Southampton rejected the offer as they were in the relegation battle.

Southampton subsequently raised Dibling's valuation to £100 million (approximately 185.1 billion won) because they recognized that many teams wanted him. However, after criticism that the amount was unrealistic, it was ultimately revised to £55 million.

With their financial strength boosted by winning the Europa League, Tottenham is once again targeting Dibling.

Tottenham is also eyeing Leroy Sané (Bayern Munich) as a successor to Son Heung-min. 'TBR Football' reported that "Sané has made it onto Tottenham's acquisition list. He is a resource that can eventually replace Son Heung-min."

Sané has recorded 13 goals and 6 assists in 45 matches this season. Although his performance was somewhat limited due to early-season injuries, he consistently accumulated attacking points. Last season, he tallied 10 goals and 13 assists for a total of 23 attacking points in 42 matches.

'TBR Football' noted, "Despite having restrictions on playing time, Sané also showed impressive performances this season."

It further explained, "Sané is a winger with quick speed and creative dribbling abilities. He possesses a style similar to Son Heung-min on the left flank. This type fits well with coach Ange Postecoglou's tactics."

The media pointed out that Son Heung-min’s recent drop in performance may make joining Sané at Tottenham a positive prospect. 'TBR Football' stated, "Son Heung-min has only scored 7 goals in the league. He is experiencing physical decline and loss of form. Coach Postecoglou has also mentioned that Son Heung-min seemed exhausted during the season. He was even excluded from the starting lineup for the Europa League final," adding that "Sané is better than Son Heung-min in dribbling and goal-scoring ability. On the other hand, Son Heung-min has strengths in ball carrying and chance creation. If Sané joins Tottenham, he could emerge as a substitute resource to fill the gap left by Son Heung-min."

Sané’s contract with Bayern will end at the end of this season. Being a free agent means that he can be acquired without transfer fee obligations, which is also an attractive condition for Tottenham.
