A fun scene unfolded as the player and the umpire shared a high five.
Estevan Florial of Hanwha scored after sharing a high five with the umpire during the game against the NC Dinos held at Changwon NC Park on the 30th.
Here’s what happened:
Florial, leading 2-1 in the top of the 5th inning, was expected to catch a high pitch, but NC center fielder Kim Seong-wook failed to track the ball and missed it, creating a fortunate double.
Following Ha Ju-suk's bunt hit in front of the third baseman, Florial advanced to third base and dashed home, capitalizing on NC third baseman Kim Hwi-jip's throwing error to score.
After sliding, Florial naturally shared a high five with the umpire. The umpire slightly raised his hand in anticipation of a collision with Florial, who nonchalantly high-fived him, eliciting laughter from fans.
Moon Hyun-bin, who was attempting to share a high five behind the umpire, was equally flustered.
Subsequently, NC starting pitcher Riley's throwing error to first base and a wild pitch allowed one more run.
On this day, Hanwha's starting pitcher Ryu Hyun-jin recorded his 5th win of the season (2 losses) in 6 innings, allowing 3 hits, 2 walks, and striking out 5. Chae Eun-seong hit a game-winning two-run homer in the 11th inning against LG on the 28th, and followed it up with a go-ahead home run in the 4th. Estevan Florial, Ha Ju-suk, Lee Jin-young, and Choi Jae-hun also recorded two hits each, marking a rare active performance from the lineup.
However, after 62 days since their last home game at Changwon NC Park, the NC Dinos made a series of errors and lost 1-7.
