Professional baseball player Kim Seong-yun of the Samsung Lions has been removed from the first team roster due to a right thigh injury.

Samsung made changes to the first team roster ahead of the away game against the LG Twins on the 31st at Jamsil Stadium. Kim Seong-yun was taken off the roster, and rookie infielder Cha Seung-jun was called up to the first team. Kim Seong-yun was replaced by pinch runner Park Seung-kyu after getting a hit in the top of the 3rd inning during the game against LG on the 30th.

At the time, a club official explained, "Kim Seong-yun felt slight discomfort in the back of his right thigh from the 2nd inning onward, and he was replaced for player protection shortly after reaching base." Kim Seong-yun received a diagnosis of fascia damage following a thorough examination.

Manager Park Jin-man said before the game on the 31st, "There is no issue with the muscles and tendons, but the fascia is slightly damaged. It’s not a significant injury. The return timing will depend on the speed of recovery."

Kim Seong-yun has recorded a batting average of .358 (64 hits in 179 at-bats) with 2 home runs, 26 RBIs, 40 runs, and 13 stolen bases in 54 games this season. The absence of Kim Seong-yun, who is leading in batting, is likely to have considerable impact. Manager Park Jin-man commented, "I hope the remaining players can fill the gap effectively."

"Living legend" Oh Seung-hwan pitched well during the away game against the NC Dinos on the 31st at Changwon Masan Stadium, completing 2 innings without allowing any runs (1 hit allowed, no walks, 2 strikeouts).

On this day, Oh Seung-hwan threw 30 pitches with a maximum velocity of 145 km/h. He mixed in curves, sliders, and forkballs.

Entering the 6th inning leading 7-4, Oh Seung-hwan came in as the second pitcher after starter Jung Min-seong, striking out Han Jae-hwan and Choi Bo-seong back-to-back before handling Kim Tae-ho with a pop-up.

In the 7th inning, he easily retired Jung Hyun-chang and Kim Se-hun with pop-ups. After recording two outs, he gave up a hit to Ko Seung-wan, but finished the inning by getting Kim Beom-jun to fly out to right field. Oh Seung-hwan was replaced by Yuk Sun-yeop in the 8th inning.

Manager Park Jin-man noted regarding Oh Seung-hwan’s current condition, "I have received reports that his pitching and physical condition are good. We will determine (the timing for Oh Seung-hwan's call-up) through a general meeting after today's game."

Meanwhile, Samsung has set its starting lineup with center fielder Kim Ji-chan, shortstop Lee Jae-hyun, left fielder Koo Ja-wook, designated hitter Lewin Diaz, catcher Kang Min-ho, first baseman Ryu Ji-hyeok, right fielder Park Seung-kyu, third baseman Kim Young-ung, and second baseman Yang Do-geun. Workhorse Won Tae-in will take the mound as the starting pitcher.
