Jadon Sancho (25), who was on loan at Chelsea, finally has the opportunity to end his Karma with Manchester United (Man U). However, he must accept a pay cut.
'TalkSport' reported that Sancho, who scored in the UEFA Europa Conference League final on the 30th (Korean time), is on the complete transfer negotiation table just 24 hours after the match ended.
Sancho scored a critical goal in the final against Real Betis in Wrocław, Poland, on the 29th, leading to a 2-1 advantage in the 38th minute of the second half. Thanks to Sancho's performance, Chelsea won 4-1 and lifted the championship trophy.
Sancho transferred from Dortmund to Man U in 2021. However, he fell out of favor with manager Erik ten Hag and was loaned back to Dortmund in January of last year.
Although Sancho was released from ten Hag's control, he was also excluded from the plans of coach Ruben Amorim, leading to his loan to Chelsea ahead of this season. Chelsea agreed to a $25 million (£25 million) option for a permanent transfer when acquiring Sancho from Man U.
If Chelsea does not activate this option, they will need to pay a $5 million (£5 million) penalty. Initially, Chelsea was reported to plan to pay this penalty and return Sancho to Man U.
However, Chelsea changed their mind and initiated discussions with Sancho. The club has proposed a lower salary than his current wages and requested that he agrees to an incentive-based salary structure. If Sancho accepts, the permanent transfer could be realized.
This season, Sancho has participated in 42 matches for Chelsea, scoring 5 goals and making 10 assists, showing fluctuations in performance. However, he received recognition for leading the win after scoring the team's third goal in the final.
Chelsea coach Enzo Maresca noted regarding Sancho's future, 'We will discuss next season with the club, and it was because of Sancho that we could finish in fourth place and win the final.'
Sancho has the opportunity to start anew at Chelsea. This is seen as a chance to build a new career while leaving behind the long slump he experienced at Man U.
