The day before, Hwang Jae-kyun, who limped during a base-running play, received a diagnosis of a hamstring injury.

Korea Professional Baseball (KBO) KT Wiz manager Lee Kang-cheol met with reporters ahead of the 7th match of the season against the KIA Tigers at Suwon KT Wiz Park on 30th and reported the news of Hwang Jae-kyun's long-term absence.

Hwang Jae-kyun started as the No. 1 designated hitter in the previous day's game against the Suwon Doosan Bears but was substituted due to injury during the match.

Hwang Jae-kyun suddenly limped as he stepped on third base and headed home.

Hwang Jae-kyun complained of pain in his left hamstring and was transported to a nearby hospital.

Manager Lee Kang-cheol noted, "It looked like he was just flailing around as if the meat was in water..." and added, "The examination results came back, and they say it will take 8 weeks. They mentioned he might be able to return a bit faster, but it seems like injured players will all return only after the All-Star break."

Prior to his injury, Hwang Jae-kyun was leading KT's batting lineup as the team's top hitter.

This week, KT faced a major crisis with the injury of three key players.

Manager Lee Kang-cheol lamented, "Looking at the injured players, it’s the three most important players who are missing."
