The Korea Racing Authority (Chairman Jeong Gi-hwan) announced on the 30th that it signed a memorandum of understanding with the Busan Metropolitan Police Agency on the 29th at the main conference room of the Korea Racing Authority's Busan-Gyeongnam headquarters.
Recently, illegal online horse racing has become easily accessible through mobile apps and social media (SNS), rapidly infiltrating the daily lives of the general public, including youth. With the continuous expansion of the online gambling market, economic damage has intensified, leading to an increase in related crimes, which have surfaced as a serious social issue.
In response, the two organizations plan to jointly tackle the spread of illegal online horse racing through the agreement and enhance the effectiveness of enforcement through continuous information exchange. The main contents of the agreement include ▲ sharing trends and information related to illegal gambling ▲ mutual support for efficient enforcement and investigation of illegal horse racing ▲ public awareness activities to prevent damage from illegal horse racing, thereby further strengthening the organic cooperation system.
Chairman Jeong Gi-hwan of the Korea Racing Authority noted, "This agreement will serve as a meaningful starting point to reduce social harm caused by illegal horse racing and foster a fair and sound leisure culture," and stated, "We will fulfill our social responsibility to eradicate illegal horse racing through cooperation with related agencies in the future."
