Roh Si-hwan of the Hanwha Eagles made a critical judgment mistake that cost the ace, Ponse, his victory. They narrowly avoided a shocking comeback defeat. It was fortunate that Chae Eun-seong hit a decisive two-run home run in the 11th inning to secure the win.

Hanwha secured a 6-5 victory in the 11th inning against the LG Twins in the 7th match of the 2025 KBO League held at the Jamsil Stadium in Seoul on the 28th, after a close contest. With this victory, Hanwha trailed the leading LG by 2.5 games after redeeming themselves from the previous day’s loss.

Hanwha scored first with a leadoff home run by Floriel in the 1st inning, and in the 3rd inning, with two outs and a runner on second, Ha Ju-suk's RBI single, followed by Moon Hyun-bin's one-run double and Roh Si-hwan's subsequent RBI single, extended the lead to 4-0.

Starting pitcher Ponse allowed a solo home run to Kim Hyun-soo in the 4th inning and another solo shot to Lee Young-bin in the 6th. In the bottom of the 7th inning, with Hanwha ahead 4-2, Ponse faced trouble with no outs and runners on first and second after issuing a hit by pitch and allowing a hit. During Gu Bon-hyeok's at-bat, the Hanwha battery attempted a pitch-out on the second delivery, forcing the runners into a rundown.

Catcher Choi Jae-hun threw to second base, causing the runner on first to stop in the middle, and the shortstop threw to third to catch the runner on second. However, third baseman Roh Si-hwan, failing to tag the runner Moon Bo-gyeong right in front of him, threw to second seeing the runner from first coming over. It was a greedy attempt to catch both the runner on first and the one on second.

However, the timing was late. The runner from first was safe. After the second baseman attempted to tag, he threw to third again but was also safe there. Ultimately, they greedily failed to record either out, allowing both LG runners to safely advance to second and third with no outs. It was not recorded as an error and turned into a double steal.

Commentator Jung Min-cheol noted, "Roh Si-hwan was thinking about the runner at second. It's a precious situation with only one out right now," while commentator Heo Do-hwan mentioned, "Roh Si-hwan was a bit greedy."

Commentator Jung Min-cheol pointed out, "It's an understandable play. If Moon Bo-gyeong had been closer to second base, it would have made sense, but he was already about two-thirds of the way to third base. This was a bit greedy here."

Ponse seemed to escape the crisis by striking out Gu Bon-hyeok and Oh Ji-hwan consecutively but after two outs, he allowed a bloop single to Park Hae-min, tying the game at 4-4. The ball fell between the third baseman, left fielder, and shortstop. Ponse pitched seven innings, allowing four runs before being replaced in the 8th. His attempt for a ninth win was thwarted.

Afterward, both teams remained tied through the 9th in a tense battle of bullpen pitchers and entered extra innings. In the top of the 11th inning, after one out, Moon Hyun-bin reached base on a walk and Roh Si-hwan struck out.

With two outs and a runner on first, Chae Eun-seong hit a two-run home run against Park Myeong-geun, seizing a 6-4 advantage. In the bottom of the 11th, Park Sang-won allowed a solo home run to Park Dong-won, but Cho Dong-uk came in with one out and a runner on first and struck out three batters to end the game in a bases-loaded situation.
