The Los Angeles Dodgers suffered a shocking comeback loss due to a bullpen collapse despite Clayton Kershaw's strong performance. Kim Hye-sung missed his second consecutive game.

The Dodgers lost 4-7 in the away game against the Cleveland Guardians at Progressive Field in Cleveland, Ohio, during the 2025 Major League Baseball season.

With the loss, the Dodgers ended their two-game winning streak and now have a record of 34 wins and 22 losses. Cleveland broke its three-game losing streak with a record of 30 wins and 25 losses.

The game saw the Dodgers leading 4-2 until the top of the seventh inning. Starting pitcher Clayton Kershaw allowed a one-run RBI single to José Ramírez in the bottom of the first inning but did not yield any additional runs until the fifth inning. He pitched five innings, allowing six hits, two walks, and striking out three with one earned run.

The Dodgers, who were held scoreless until the third inning, began to attack Cleveland left-handed starter Colby Allard in the top of the fourth inning. After tying the game with two hits from Teoscar Hernández and Will Smith, they took the lead with a right-field RBI single from Andy Pahéz.

In the top of the sixth inning, following Mookie Betts’ walk and a wild pitch from opposing pitcher Cade Smith, Freddie Freeman delivered a right-field RBI single to add a point. In the top of the seventh, Kiké Hernández’s double and Max Muncy’s fly ball to center field led to an additional run on a wild pitch from opposing pitcher Tim Herrin, bringing the score to 4-1.

However, the Dodgers’ bullpen could not hold onto the three-run lead. In the bottom of the seventh, Lou Trevino allowed three hits and gave up one run, and in the bottom of the eighth, they succumbed to a shocking five-run big inning.

Left-handed reliever Tanner Scott, who was signed as a free agent for a staggering $72 million, ruined another game. In the bottom of the eighth, Scott created a bases-loaded situation with consecutive hits and a walk but struck out Austin Hedges for a swinging strikeout, only to allow a two-run left-field RBI single to the surprised Jones, making it a 4-4 tie. This marked Scott's fifth blown save of the season. Kershaw's victory slipped away.

In the continued crisis with one out and runners on first and second, the Dodgers replaced the pitcher with Alex Vesia. However, Vesia gave up a three-run home run over left field to Ángel Martínez, allowing the go-ahead run. Scott recorded 3 hits, 1 walk, 2 Samjin, and 4 earned runs in ⅔ innings, suffering his first loss of the season. His earned run average soared from 3.28 to 4.62.

Shohei Ohtani, who appeared as the designated hitter for the Dodgers, went 0 for 3 with 1 walk, ending his home run streak at three games. Ohtani's batting average fell from .296 to .292 (63 hits in 216 at-bats). His OPS also dropped from 1.053 to 1.042. Freeman and Smith both recorded 2 hits and 1 RBI in 4 at-bats, but their efforts were overshadowed by the loss.
