The ASEAN Football Federation (AFF) all-star team, led by coach Kam Sang-sik, secured a historic victory against Manchester United (Man U).

The AFF all-star team, composed of representative players from 12 countries affiliated with the AFF, defeated Man U 1-0 in a friendly match held on the 28th (Korean time) at the Bukit Jalil National Stadium in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

The decisive goal was scored in the 26th minute of the second half. Maung Maung Lewin calmly finished a pass into the defensive space provided by Adrian Segecic, shaking the net. This single goal decided the match.

Coach Kam, who led the AFF all-star team, previously guided Vietnam to victory in the 2024 ASEAN Mitsubishi Electric Cup. He once again demonstrated his leadership by achieving the feat of defeating Man U.

After the match, coach Kim said, “I didn’t expect to win against Man U. This victory holds great significance as a leader,” and noted, “This special match with the all-star players will be remembered for a long time.”

He added, “I felt again how difficult the sport is, scoring and preventing goals. I am satisfied with the victory.”

On the other hand, Man U continued their shocking losing streak.

Man U recorded 11 wins, 9 draws, and 18 losses in this season's English Premier League (EPL), remaining in 15th place. This is the lowest ranking and most losses since the EPL was launched in 1992. In the UEFA Europa League (UEL) final, they lost to Tottenham, captained by Son Heung-min, missing out on qualification for next season's Champions League.

About 70,000 spectators at the stadium jeered at Man U’s lackluster performance. The British BBC described this scene as “the realistic state of Man U.”

Ruben Amorim, the Man U coach, said, “I feel a sense of responsibility about the team’s performance,” and acknowledged, “I also recognize that the players need to be jeered.”
