Premier League powerhouses are closely watching Takefusa Kubo (24, Real Sociedad).
The British outlet 'Tribuna' reported on the 29th (Korean time) that "Liverpool and Arsenal are interested in signing Japanese midfielder Takefusa Kubo."
Kubo is a Japanese midfielder born in 2001, famous for being a peer of Lee Kang-in, who primarily plays as a right winger and is an offensive asset known for his dribbling, quick footwork, and ability to use both feet. With a unique dribbling style that disrupts rhythm and precise kicking skills, he also serves as a set-piece taker and can be utilized as a playmaker.
Although he is left-footed, he also uses his right foot proficiently and excels at long-range shooting and passing. However, he is noted to be weak in aerial duels due to physical limitations, and inconsistency in performance has also been pointed out as an issue. After moving to Real Sociedad, his skills have rapidly improved, and he has contributed significantly to the team's offense, setting a record for the most goals scored by an Asian player in La Liga.
'Tribuna' noted that "Liverpool and Arsenal are showing deep interest in wing player Kubo from Real Sociedad. The two Premier League powerhouses are closely monitoring Kubo's situation ahead of the upcoming summer transfer market."
It continued, "Currently, Kubo is contracted with Sociedad until 2029, but due to several recent changes, questions are being raised about a long-term stay. In particular, he recently rejected a massive four-year offer worth €160 million (approximately 248 billion won) from a Saudi Arabian club, clearly expressing his intention to continue his career in Europe."
'Tribuna' quoted Spain's 'AS' as stating, "Liverpool and Arsenal are knocking on Kubo's door. Both clubs are showing concrete interest. Kubo has recently changed agents, and the new agent is expected to discuss the player's future with Real Sociedad this week."
It added, "In particular, uncertainty about squad reorganization is growing as Sociedad has failed to qualify for European competitions next season. Kubo's contract includes a buyout clause of €60 million (approximately 93.2 billion won), but it is still unknown which team, Liverpool or Arsenal, is willing to pay this amount."
