Director Kim Sang-sik defeated the prestigious Premier League team Manchester United.
The ASEAN All-Stars, led by Director Kim Sang-sik, defeated Manchester United 1-0 in a friendly match held at Bukit Jalil Stadium in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, on the 28th. Once again, Manchester United, ranked 15th in the Premier League, has suffered a blow to their pride.
Manchester United was exhausted after playing their final Premier League match two days prior and traveling long distances. Nevertheless, main players including Maynu, DIO, Casemiro, Hojlund, Maguire, and Onana started and played the first half. It was clear that the ASEAN All-Stars, led by Kim Sang-sik, delivered an impressive performance.
Director Kim Sang-sik had a hidden supporter. Professor Lee Seung-jae from the Department of Physical Education at Mokpo National University demonstrated exceptional capabilities as the head physiotherapist for the ASEAN All-Stars.
Professor Lee operated a tailored conditioning program to enhance the performance and prevent injuries of elite players selected from ASEAN countries. Through this, he played a key role in helping the team deliver an impressive performance against Manchester United. The results of this match also highlight the professionalism and practical skills of Professor Lee.
Trainer Kim Gwang-seong, a student of Professor Lee (Master's program in Leisure Sports at Mokpo National University), also participated in the team. Professor Lee provided practical experience to his students while mentoring and collaborating on-site to foster the next generation.
Professor Lee Seung-jae continues to serve as a physiotherapy and medical consultant for the national teams of Vietnam and Laos. As the Southeast Asian sports market expands, he is collaborating in various ways to develop sports medicine and performance enhancement systems across ASEAN. Professor Lee is recognized as a facilitator for the development of football in ASEAN and a pioneer in the field of sports medicine.
