The Korea Billiards Federation (President Seo Soo-gil) announced on the 28th that it has signed a policy agreement with National Assembly member Yang Moon-seok (Culture, Sports, and Tourism Committee, Gyeonggi Ansan-si Gap) for the establishment of an institutional foundation for billiards and the revitalization of the industry ecosystem.
This agreement holds significant meaning as a starting point for systematic policy review regarding not only the recreational function of billiards but also its educational, industrial, and international value. In particular, it is noteworthy that the National Assembly and the sports organization directly collaborated to enhance the effectiveness of policy implementation.
According to the agreement, the Korea Billiards Federation will be responsible for ▲proposing policies and institutional improvements for the promotion of the billiards industry that have a high level of perceptibility ▲practical support such as gathering opinions from the field, while Yang Moon-seok will support through ▲reviewing the establishment of promotion laws ▲expanding policy outreach ▲consultations with relevant government departments.
The two organizations plan to collaborate gradually in various areas such as ▲establishing legal and institutional foundations ▲introducing and expanding youth sports education ▲advancing the billiards industry ecosystem ▲formulating plans to enhance international competitiveness and status.
Yang Moon-seok, who attended the signing ceremony, noted, "Billiards is a sport with value beyond mere recreation, playing a significant role in enhancing public health and revitalizing leisure culture," adding, "Through this policy agreement, I will strive to expand the base of billiards sports and strengthen institutional support so that more citizens can enjoy the charm of billiards."
Heo Hae-yong, the senior vice president of the Korea Billiards Federation, also remarked, "This agreement is expected to provide practical momentum to the long-discussed establishment of an institutional foundation for billiards," and added, "We will do our best to elevate the social and policy status of billiards through close cooperation with the government and the National Assembly, ensuring sustainable promotion."
