The time of Hwang Yeon-joo, who is a living witness to the history of the V League, is not over yet.

Korea Expressway Corporation Hi-pass Volleyball Team agreed on the transfer of veteran opposite hitter Hwang Yeon-joo (39) on the 28th with Hyundai E&C Hillstate Volleyball Team.

Hwang Yeon-joo, who will don the uniform of Korea Expressway Corporation, joined Heungkuk Life Insurance as the 2nd pick in the 1st round of the rookie draft in 2005, the inaugural year of the V League, and has been active at Hyundai E&C since the 2010-11 season. She has shown consistent performance over 21 years and has received the V League's 10th and 20th anniversary BEST7 (opposite) awards. It is expected that she will add stability to the opposite position along with player Moma, who has also played at Hyundai E&C.

Veteran Hwang Yeon-joo, who has made a mark in V League history by ranking first in career serve points (461 points) and third in scoring (5,847 points), signed a free agent contract with Hyundai E&C for a total of 224 million won over two years in April 2023. Although her contract ends after this season, she has effectively been treated as outside the team. She has only appeared in 9 games this season. Even though she needed to sign a new salary contract, Hwang felt she had lost her place as she was excluded from the team’s strategic plans.

Hwang Yeon-joo, who had a strong desire to continue her playing career, requested a transfer to the club, and Hyundai E&C accepted this. Hyundai E&C allowed Hwang Yeon-joo to transfer unconditionally, opening the path for her to extend her playing career.

Hwang Yeon-joo said, "Although I am leaving a team that I have been with for a long time, I am grateful to both teams for allowing me to take on a new challenge," adding, "As a veteran, I will lead the team well and strive for good results for the club."

Hwang Yeon-joo will head down to Gimcheon next week to join the team, greet her teammates, and start coordinating with them.
